AV obviously likes Fast. He seems like a reliable, defensively responsible young player, and he is playing well with Richards and Hagelin. The question that I would have is IF the Rangers continue to play like they did last night, what do they with the lineup when Kreider is ready to return (if the Rangers get that far)? If all four lines are rolling well, that creates an issue.
- Pete V

Good point Pete, haven't thought that far ahead. But he would have to be inserted somewhere. Let the shuffling of the lines begin. haha. Wouldn't touch the Zucc, Pouliot, Brassard line though.

Edit: Looks like MM said exactly what I was thinking.

That 2009 Sharks-Ducks series was a long time ago.

Sharks matchup very well against the Ducks this season. History of playoff failures aside, there is no other evidence that San Jose should not be feared this postseason. They have a great blend of veterans, youth, speed, size and skill.

Niemis never played better in his career than hes playing now too, outside his cup run with the hawks.

I feel like I haven't been able to calm down since the game ended. So amped today. Too amped.
- jimbo83

I am actually calm because this series is a slam dunk, in my eyes.

My only concern is getting out of this series unscathed in the injury department. Pens or Blue Jackets will certainly be tougher.

if we beat the Flyers is that how it definitely works? we get the Pens-BJ's winner? still unclear on how the next rounds are determined

Yes, it has gone to a pure bracket system now. Which is strange, because let's say the Red Wings played Pitt in Round 1, if they won the series, they would play the winner of the 2-3 matchup in the Metro Division in Round 2, and could actually win the playoff championship of a division of which they are not a member.

so the next round could possibly see these two matchups:

Rangers vs Penguins
Montreal vs Boston

those would be sick

Yep in the East, since four teams made in each division, the format is set up like in the old Patrick Division/Adams divison days.

Rangers won't see the Bruins until the conference; if they are to get that far.

what happens if the Rangers play Montreal in the ECF.

Would Montreal get home ice because they had more points? or Rangers because they were higher seed?

That is exactly what it would look like.

That, I have no idea about.

And also, I am really hoping that the Jackets can pull the upset. I know that Pitt has there faults, and are beatable, but I just can't stand playing that team in the playoffs. Too many bad memories.

I think more points get the home ice but don't quote me on that.

Not a single playoff victory over the Pens. I think the tally is now 0-4 for the Rangers. In 89, 92, 96 & 08. The longest a series has gone, between the two, is six games and that was in the year the Rangers blew a 4-2 lead, in the third period of Game 4, while up two games to one.

I still remember that center ice Francis slap shot beating Richter, between the f*cking legs, like it was yesterday.

"G*d damn, white boy!"

Just quoting TJ, the He-Pimp, from Deuce Biggalo. Have to clear that up before some itchy trigger fingered moderator gets a little too jolly with the delete button.

I guess it provides a chance to exercise the demons, but I would much prefer not seeing them in the second round. With that said, I don't think Columbus has it in them to pull the upset. Columbus play good tough hockey, but they are young, and I just think the Pens just have too much firepower.

Edit: Still think the Rangers/Flyers series goes deep, however. So, first things first.

I briefly thought Columbus could do it but then I quickly realized that the Pens are almost at full strength and then that brief thought vanished as quickly as spare ribs at an all you can eat buffet, attended by Samuel P. Woo.

Flyers expected to play someone named Chris VandeVelde on sunday

not sure if that means Lecavalier out of lineup or Akeson

That sound like they will likely scratch Akeson. I believe VandeVelde is a winger.

Not that any of this matters nor a switch in their net.

I just realized that Brad Richards best Ranger moments happen after Hagelin gets cut with a high stick and we get a double minor PP

It is a bracketed playoff now. Like the NCAA tourneys.

So yes, whoever wins this series gets Pens v Blue Jax winner.

do you know the answer to who would get home ice if the Rangers and Habs meet in the EFC?

Montreal has more points, Rangers are a second seed
