I think it's pretty obvious why Vinny got so little time... Aside from just the regular answer of lots of PK time for the Flyers that last period.

He's slow as dirt, probably not a great matchup against the Rags.

- Yosimar89

He's on a line with Rinaldo and Hall. Even if he was the fastest player in the league, he wouldn't be able to much against the rangers.

Seems funny to me that only 1 player gets singled out. Hall was terrible, as he has been for most of the year.

Akeson might be quicker, but the kid can't win a puck battle. He has the strength of a 4 year old.

In my opinion

A lot of talk about the Flyers and the defenseman not being able to move the puck against a strong forecheck. They definitely had issues with that last night. But over the course of the Season, the Flyers have played well, and won games against quick teams that forecheck hard. So I don't buy into the belief that the Flyers defenseman aren't good enough. Familiar refrain that is used when the Flyers don't play well. It's a team game. The Flyers can play much better then that. And I think they will. They better or it will be a short series.

One shot on goal in the third period?
Non-competitive. Generated zero offense. Carbon copy of the same bullpoop at MSG the last 3 years. Season is on the line Sunday.

The Flyers dmen have their limitations for sure. However it is up to the forwards to help out with this which they can do in 2 ways:

1. Shorten the gaps, come back deep and take some pressure off the D

2. Establish the forecheck, put pressure on the Rangers and play more of the Game in THEIR zone.

The Flyers have played better against and beaten better teams than the NY Rangers this season. They need to stop reacting to what the Rags do and start forcing NY to react and adjust to what the Flyers do!

I thought the Couterier line played well and did good job keeping the puck in the rangers zone. Raffl definately had nervs last night. Could tell by the way he faild to clear pucks and trouble handling pucks on hjis stick. Simmonds line as ery quiet. I hated the scheduleing of the series but one thing I like now is with two day break between games, i don't think the Rangers take as much momentum into Game 2 now.

No way around it. Last night was a poor showing, and was one of the worst playoff games I've seen them play ever.

I trust Sunday will be a different story.

The delaying is because the defenseman don't have a clean option to make a quick pass. They aren't passing up the opportunity to move the puck to an open forward in favor of a D to D pass.

- MJL

Thats partly true, except for when Coburn or Timonen are out there.. The bigger problem is that Grossmann and Schenn cant make a simple break out pass (Grossmann especially last night) without taking a solid 37 seconds to figure out the best option. I thought the puck (and we knew would happen) was all over the place last night. How can an NHL rink be so shotty.

G and Simmonds didnt play last night. Im serious. I dont know if they were healthy scratches, but they didnt suit up. Instead a few C league guys filled in for them.

I applaud Ray Emery. With that being said, we are toast if Mason cant get back between the pipes.

I thought Coburn, Couts, Voraczech, and Hartnell were our only playoff performers last night. MacDaddy a bit too.

If we want to even make it to game 5 A LOT needs to change.

PS: I (frank)ing hate referees.
