Now, of all the many things Canucks Fans have me perplexed by, Alex Edler takes the cake.

I have heard it all from "Young Budding Star", to "Franchise D-Man", to you name it......yet he is always the 1st guy the fans want moved. If he all those things, why not build around him on the back end?

- Jeropotato

Edler is not the budding young star Ryan is.

I am basing this offer on a couple of Ottawa fans were in here a few weeks ago asking what would it cost to get Edler.

I would build a package offering Edler a late first and something else to get Ryan and extend him around the 6.5 mil contract for 5 years.

I could see a Sedin Sedin Ryan line working.

If Trevor was smart he should make a secret deal for Spezza and Ryan for peanuts then ask Melnyk for permission to tak to their coach and GM for job offers

Here's my armchair GM for the off season.

Kesler to Pitt. For Pouliout Sutter and 2015 first. 5 million out 2.9 million returned savings of 2.1 . Also the rights to Engelland

Tanev Hansen Markstrom and the 6 th over all to WPG for E Kane .

Sign Kassian 5 years 4 million per.

Buyout Garrison savings of 4.6 million

UFA Steve Downie at 2 years 2 million per

Resign Santorelli 2 years . 2 million per

Sedin Sedin Burrows
Kane Sutter Kassian
Booth Santorelli Jensen
Downie Richardson Mathias

Sestito Higgins

Hamhuis Bieksa
Edler COrrado
Pouliot Engelland
Stanton

Lack

Let's face it keeping al these NTCs , we will definitely be in the running for McDavid next year. No doubt about it.

No Doubt! I still think that with the proper trades, that this team can remain competitive, still make the playoff's and build towards contender ship along the way. Sedins are good players to help that process. I guess the simple way of putting it is to trade the names that get the biggest returns if those players can be suitably replaced from with in the system for picks and prospects. I mean, what would Detroit do?

I don't think this team is competitive any more. Our immediate help on the farm is not ready for at least another year and our core sucks. Torts was bang on when he said this core is stale. We will finish bottom 5 next year , if we don't blow it up.

We can only speculate since neither of us know what the roster will look like by the end of July, but yeah I don't see us finishing with the 6th pick or higher next season. I'd be willing to put some money on that right now, even without knowing the complete roster.

Put the wallet away and save it for lunch money. I would hate to take money from a student.

Tell you what , give us some insight to how you see this roster next year , taken into account all these NTCs NMCs , free agency trades and call ups. Let's see what you got or anyone else willing to step forward.

We had one of the worse teams this year and if it was not for a strong December we would have challenged FLa and Buf.

Have at er and show me your PO lineup.

Agreed, the core containing the likes of Sedins, Burrows, Kass, Mathhias, Jensen? Bieksa, Hamhuis, Tanev, Stanton are fine. (Garrsion, Edler and Kesler trade bait)

Between the possibility of either drafting a player that can slot in next year, or having one of our prospects make the jump or potentially having some serviceable youth acquired through trade could create a quick turnaround.

Oh, and a coach who advocates offense through puck possession

Kind of a pointless thing to do IMO, I can't assume certain trades would be accepted, who's willing to waive to go where, who would sign here and for how much, and etc. Also, I didn't say they'd be in the playoffs next year, just said that they'd likely finish higher in the standings.

Who do you think you will get for Garrison? I would think not much.

Kesler I can see a decent return that will help us in 2-3 years.

Edler who knows what any GM twofold be willing to give for a 5 million dollar Dman that is declining in value bu the minute.

What if there was couple players swapped in and out of said "core"? Maybe something like this up front

???? Sedin Sedin
Burrows ???? ?????

Granted, 3 players is a tall order, but you could trade probably 2 D-Men and Kessler and fix it up nicely.

Well this is a rumour and speculation site . No better place to take a stab at it.

If you are going to play it safe then you should assume no one waiving NTCs or NMC s and we return with the same lineup next year only one year older.

I am not saying we won't be better in 2 to 4 years, but unless this team has plastic surgery next year I expect pretty much the same as this year.

Also and most importantly , if we miss the playoffs I want to be in bottom five and not sitting 10-14th. That is like going to your prom with your sister finishing like that.

We knew we needed top 6 forwards for years so I can't see how we get 3 in this offseason?

With all the NTCs we have it is very hard to move this core.

Your GM was a female dog? Seriously, how many NTC contracts do you have. ? How many would be unwilling to waive?

I can see that. It's kinda like those wierd image photos you used to see in the 90's ,or Clouds, where if you look long enough, you can see something. Nice.

I got banned for questioning whether or not Dion Phaneuf was a high risk for a 7 yr contract......this was a year ago, before he signed.
