I get this "positive" shtt exist on MLSE/Leaf Sites but didn't know it applied here on HB..

You can't pay somebody to be the fifth highest paid defenseman in the league and complain that people are giving him a hard time for being absolute poop the last 20 games of the season without an injury. Wear him out? Why is he getting 7 mil if not to be able to be THAT guy. Is Suter worn out? He plays 30 minutes a night plus Olympics and never dipped in play. It's an excuse and if he has so many, he should be getting 5.5mil like the rest of the "Great defensemen...but" category.

He isn't worth the money he has been given, everyone can agree on that, but UFA's will always be over paid/priced, can't see that changing anytime soon.

Leafs are better off with an overpriced/overwhelmed Phaneuf, than no Phaneuf at all... and I'm sure that was going thru the Leaf think-tank when they gave him the extension... still don't love it, but it's not my money.

I would take Suter in a heartbeat over Phaneuf, just we would of never had a shot at Suter. gotta make do with the options we do have, not the ones we really never had.
