Still only Game 1, you think Mase plays next game?

I'd be iffy with that. Emery was far from the problem tonight, but he will be exposed if you move him side to side which the Rangers did well on the PP.

Flyers will need to find a way to initiate the transition game. It stems from there. The Rangers d-men are able to skate the puck out or make solid passes. Nobody from the Flyers back end was able to do that.

Team speed is the crucial issue, especially from the back end. Rangers have known that for years.

Impressed with that Ranger fourth line.

Rangers had 13 more goals in the third period this season than Philly. Those on Flyers were commenting how they had allowed 12 goals in third period recently. Happened again tonight.

Your team has to stay out of the box. If they are expecting to intimidate NY, it won't happen. The four minute advantage was pure luck, but too many undisciplined penalties.

Fourth line is a major difference between this year and past two seasons.

Man if Boyle could just hit the net with his shot, he would be a pretty good player

They have to try and wear down McDonaugh or however you spell that name.

Flyers do excel when playing on the line. If Berube thinks they lost simply because of the penalties, he is fooling himself. Initiating a break-out, and being able to do so without having to play long stretches in your own zone will be the deciding factor imo.

Flyers simply couldn't handle the speed.

Anyway see you in game 2. Rock on

Still, at $1.7 million for what he does, I will take it.

A lot closer than it looked. If Timonen's shot goes in rather than hit post, it's 3-2 and not 4-1, as NY took the carom off the post and Hagelin scored.

Unbelievable we outshot them 13-1 in that 3rd period though. DOMINATION.

Rangers did dominate action and D was solid. Thought major turning point was the penalty kill early in the third. No shots for Giroux and Lecavalier.

I think he's actually passed over that much. Everyone in the Flyers thread has been saying he's been an absolute and total bust of a signing and he's been centering the 4th line with limited PP time for them for a couple months now.

Outside of a few spurts where Flyers had offensive pressure, game seemed to me to be domination by the Rangers overall. Great first game and the 2 powerplay goals is the exact thing we needed to make the Flyers cautious about throwing those borderline hits throughout the rest of the series.

Awesome game. Its only 1 but great all around game. Thought Hags had a really good game. And yes I will take credit for constantly saying Richards sucks on the PP and does nothing for it.

He's played like a sack of poop since that back injury. Slow, and really bad defensively.

Another genius Holmgren move.

Great win, have to expect Phily to come out hard early Sunday. Berube will be in their face all practice tomorrow. Need to be strong the first five minutes and avoid retailiation penalties, stay out of the box and don't allow them to build momentum. Will be interesting to see if Mason is able to come back for a Game 2

The Rangers struggling on the PP recently enables them to attempt to take more liberties. The Rangers responded brilliantly by scoring on the power play. That is the BEST way to respond to a team that thinks it can intimidate. It's one game, but I've been saying all along the Flyers being this big bad bully team is overstated. Especially on home ice they know how to shut Giroux down. Do they have a plan B? We will find out as they adjust for game 2

Hell yeah! WEnt out to dinner with my mom dad, GF and her mom... Missed the first period and a half, came back and the end of the 2nd was rough and then it was great to see them light it up in the Third. We were all cheering!

After the chirping from Simmonds before the last regular season game, I really expected him to be a factor tonight, but I really can't say I remember much of him from tonight's game.

The only thing he has done these last two games was get away with a dirty slash on McDonagh.
