Flyers are a good team but I think this is a good matchup for the Rangers.

The games will be intense and close, for the most part, but I think the Rangers take this in short order.

To bad it will derailed by Mcdonagh and Girardi. Than Simmonds will get frustrated and slash Mcdonagh.

Should be fun to see these 2 rivals going at it when it matters, it has been a long time. To me it comes down to if Lundqvuist and the Rangers d can stop Giroux and the Flyers offense.

Lundqvist or Rask should be the obvious choice for best goalie. When he is on his game and can see the puck he is the 1 goalie I would not want to face right now.

Upon recovery from his injury near Dec 1 Giroux has lead the league in scoring with Crosby obviously leading for the year. He is also a proven playoff performer with 55 points in 50 games . Is he Crosby, nope but he should be considered not far below him. Like Lundqvist he can take over games individually and dominate.

I believe that McDonagh and Girardi make up one of the top pairs of dmen in the league. Maybe neither of them individually equals Pieterangelo , Weber, Doughty, Keith , Karrlesen or at times Subban but as a pair they are on the short list of best 1/2 dmen in the world.

The Flyers were the only team that had 7 players with 20 or more goals. They have another forward and dman with more than goals and a legit power forward in Simmonds. Clearly offense is their strength.

It hurts the Flyers chances if Mason is out for more than the first 2 games. I love Emery as a backup, I think he is a completely different player from who he was at the start of his career and I am glad we have but he is not Mason.

Because of the Mason injury I think the Rangers have a bigger edge in net then the Flyers offense can overcome. The wildcard is Giroux because he is good enough to cover that difference.

In the end as much as it pains me I am going with the Rangers in 7 because I believe that Lundqvist is that good. The people , on either side , thinking this will be a 4-5 game series are not being logical or honest in their assessment of the other team.

you are just the second blogger ive seen giving intagibles/leadership edge to the rangers and one of the main reasons is marty st louis, yet neither blogger mentioned vinny. just kinda seems like contorting stats to make them say whatever you want them to. i have no problem if you want to say the rangers have better intangibles but dont use marty and completely leave out vinny from the other side.
