Downie has been struggling terribly since Christmas, but the Flyers waited until April 13th to give Akseon a game The management in Philly just aren't that smart sometimes.

meh.. Sometimes its a good thing. He is a wild card on a pretty important line. Rags dont know him at all..

i'm sure they were hoping he'd get healthier instead of getting yet another concussion

Hopefully the struggles from the early part of the season will help motivate this team. This years Flyers have two different teams, the team we saw most of the first half of the season and the team from the second. Hopefully the second half team shows up. We all talk about as G goes so does the rest of the team, but I'd say to maybe a lesser extent same with Hartnell. If he starts taking stupid penalties and playing indisciplined hockey it means the team is frustrated.

Let's Go Flyers!!!

- LJF

Hartnell will take penalties, and that's sometimes not a terrible thing. The lazy/selfish ones are bad, but if he's bumping into Lundqvist and getting into the Rangers' heads with some shenanigans, I'm okay with a call here and there.

Sure that might work. But it was also unfair to Downie to bring him back so soon after his third or fourth significant head injury this season.

When Downie went down on March 22nd Akeson should have been called up been around for the Flyers final 12 games along with McGinn.

Not only that, but Downie and Akeson are not exactly the same player... Maybe they liked what they saw in Carolina. For them to skip McGinn (who will never be a full time NHLer) says something.

If Jared Ross can play in a NHL playoff game, Jason 'Hart' Akeson can as well.

I think it says something that as soon as Akeson and McGinn had both played in the same NHL game McGinn is a healthy scratch and Akeson is on the Couturier line.

Bill, great write up! Thanks for not inundating us with your predictions (as insightful as they might be) - I would rather think that you believe in this team!

I like McGinn.. He is a gamer, but he isnt a very good hockey player. I dont think he will ever stick.

As for Akeson, he is almost the opposite. He is a very good hockey player. He just doesnt have the size or skating ability to be a top 6 every day player. Hopefully he proves us wrong though...

I knew the gwg was going to come with him on the ice. I just didn't know which team would be scoring.

I fell asleep. The Pittsburgh game was way more boring, and I was low on sleep as it was.

I saw Jamie Benn's goal in the Anaheim/Dallas game then fell asleep. I would have pushed a little harder to stay awake if the game was closer. It ended up being a really good game. Anaheim looked like they were running away with it.

He was lurking with intent the whole overtime period. I was glad to see him set up the winning goal for his own sake, and since I would rather play Montreal than Tampa if the Flyers somehow manage to make the Conference Finals.
