In my opinion
The rangers are the better team
Their forwards are faster
Their team and individual D is better
Their goaltending is better
They were more determined on special teams

The flyers have to play at the very top of their game for 60 minutes to win a game
To win four?

- Marc D

No kidding man. It's mind boggling. I'm hoping it doesn't take 20 more years to figure out how to get around good forechecking teams.

Giroux should see the ice a lot more....if they double shift him once in a while it starts to make the match ups more tough to get.

It's a long series.

It's only 1-0.

They're not going to quit and I have full confidence they'll come out and play possessed on Sunday. You think they want to go out and embarrass themselves again like that mess we just saw? No way.

- Giroux_Is_God

They didn't just lose this game. They self-destructed. They came out in the 3rd period like they didn't even want to be there. How can you be that way in the playoffs? If being in the playoffs alone doesn't get your juices flowing then you have no business being there. This team lacks character and some of you are holding out on that "comeback kid" mentality. They haven't done that in almost a month and haven't played good hockey in a few weeks. I am not saying they are done but they have a long way to go and if they come out on Sunday like they did tonight, then it will be a SHORT series.

Coburn was good ... I thought Cooter had some good shifts.

Emery was good until the Rangers started going side to side on him.

- FlyerGuy

coots was good of course, i didn't even include him because i just assume he'll be good

I wanna believe and if this was any random series, sure, its just 1 game. But the fact this is a pattern against NYR and a hard forechecking team in general is what disturbs me.

Forget the Akeson minor. The score reflects a fair summary of game on merit.

You would think someone who some of you think should be considered for the Jack Adams award would have done that.

For all the knocks on Giroux and the rest of the forwards, what are the d-men going to do about losing races continuously or not being able to initiate a transition game either through passing or skating it out?
- flyer_nutter

In my opinion

Moving the puck out of the defensive zone involves all the players on the ice. This is typically what happens when a team is hemmed in their own end for large chunks of time, and isn't generating pressure in the other end. Defenseman get blamed, as if it's only their responsibility to relieve pressure and move the puck. There has to be support, there has to be open targets to hit with a pass. It wasn't there tonight. The Rangers were the quicker team to the puck. Flyers were flat footed, and didn't move their feet. That's not say that the defenseman are without blame. But it needs to be a team game, and a 5 man game. Defenseman don't look good when they are under siege. And they were tonight.

Simmonds is one of the worst of the Flyers forwards at getting out of the zone along the side boards.

Just wanted to say I feel bad for the kid Akeson, thought he was one of the most noticeable players on the ice, in a positive way, for either team before the penalty. Kid was amped up and went for the big hit, and got his stick up. Shockingly the Rangers actually converted on the PP and made him look like the goat, but he still seems like an effective player for you guys.

Series is far from over, see you boys on Easter.

The time of possession in this game was as one-sided as it gets. The Flyers chased the entire game and were lucky to be tied after 2.

You got it right, the Rangers as it looked tonight are clearly the better team. Can Flyers win the series? I think they can but like you said will take their A game.

Also let's not forget that 5 day hiatus that always is SO GOOD to the Flyers.

Game 2 will be a completely different story.

Till then, I'll be crying about molec. Off to watch 11 hours worth of lectures, starting now

Realistically, they are about a year ahead of us in team development -- that's just true.

Their defense...it's better than ours. More cohesive. Vigneault's a good coach.

It was always going to be tough. We'll see what cards Chief plays in Game 2.

In my opinion

Typically, I think the opposite is true. Simmonds is one of the better Flyers in board battles. He was one of a long list of players that didn't play well.
