The way to beat the Rangers is to dump it in and put their dmen through the glass. Berube needs to watch film of how the Flyers played under Keenan. Put pressure on them, make them pay for every inch of the ice.

Dammit guys, don't try to adjust to them, FORCE THEM TO ADJUST TO YOU!!!

At the end of the day, the team that wins the one on one battles, that never quits and wants it more is gonna win!

I agree. But it's thought to do when you don't control the puck

No kidding.

It's a clunker. It sucked and it's a playoff game, but this is where you take the 3 days off, you make some adjustments where they need to be made, you get pissed off, and you chase this team into Philadelphia for games 3 and 4.

So here we go. Take 2 on Easter Sundee. Can't wait.

The Flyers have had quite a few clunkers in the final 2 weeks leading up to the playoffs. Make some adjustments? How about show some emotion and play playoff hockey and not pre-season hockey.

For all the knocks on Giroux and the rest of the forwards, what are the d-men going to do about losing races continuously or not being able to initiate a transition game either through passing or skating it out?
- flyer_nutter

The defense is what it is at this point in the season. Giroux definitely has the ability to do more and do better

Grossman was terrible.

Coots was ok. Played 20 minutes tonight. Voracek looked the most dangerous through out the night. Finished with 14 minutes. Akeson the rookie finished with 13.

Rinaldo 7:50
Vinny 7:42

Top 2 Ice Time Getters
MacD - 22:15
Grossman - 20:44

Giroux, Streit, Voracek, and Vinny combined for 0 shots.

I'd laugh.. but I want to cry.

They give us hope they can play awesome. Then decide to play like complete poop and (frank) their fans in the ass.

It's what they always do.

I dont understand the minutes allocation. Giroux and Coburn need to see a lot more time. I was expecting Coburn to log 27+ minutes.

My predictions...

Game 1 - 6-2 Rangers
Game 2 - 3-2 Flyers (Mason comes back)
Game 3 - 4-3 Flyers (Mason hurt again late in game)
Game 4 - 4-2 Rangers
Game 5 - 3-1 Rangers
Game 6 - 5-2 Flyers
Game 7 - 3-0 Flyers (Mason returns and dominates)

- Flyersgod

Save this page. Someone... I might have had a stroke earlier and saw a glimpse of what would have happened had the Flyers actually learned to play hockey between game one and two...

Hope...

Of when you finally do get the puck and get it deep, it's time for a line change and you never get to pound the D-men.

how many shots did the flyers take that missed the net... that pi$$es me off more than anything ...i wish they could institute a fine for every time they shoot and don't hit the net a $100 bucks a shot... see if a kick in their wallets will wise them up a little

It's a long series.

It's only 1-0.

They're not going to quit and I have full confidence they'll come out and play possessed on Sunday. You think they want to go out and embarrass themselves again like that mess we just saw? No way.

The D cant get to the corners. Races aren't getting won. Its not about effort. This is the playoffs, they've been off for days, they have been through playoff battles before. When our D get the puck, they are getting forced. Luke Schenn and Coburn having to skate/stick handle waaaaaaaay too much.

I realize the Flyers beat a lot of good teams this year but JC this is the playoffs and were going to get teams best games. We cant expect to just collapse the crease and pray that we win.

So it's been almost a decade since the lockout that changed the game. The Flyers have still been unable to find their emotions when the big games are on the line. They just disappear.

I just don't understand how we can change players and coaches and the same problems exist.

I'm just amazed at how much the Flyers sat back tonight. They LET the Rangers come at them, and even though it was 1 - 1 after two, we all knew that they couldn't continue to play that way and expect to win.

The focus will be on Akeson's penalty, but in reality the Flyers had no shot at winning that kind of game. It could have been 10 - 1 with as much offensive zone time the Rangers had.

I'm with you on that; it's tough to get moving forward when the d-men are struggling with puck retrieval and first passes

This loss was just like every other bad loss they have; they just have to find a way to move the puck more quickly out of their zone

- AllInForFlyers

Having one guy on that back end who could skate it out consistently at least to the line would be a god send.

You could argue that Berube made a mistake giving Akeson more minutes than Simmonds.

If Akeson was getting the minutes he should have gotten, he wouldn't have been on the ice to throw the game.

I agree with a lot of that.

The forwards have to help. Yes. True. But the defense has to make quick decisions with the puck.

It was never going to be easy. It would have been nice if it wasn't as hard as it appears it's going to be

In my opinion
The rangers are the better team
Their forwards are faster
Their team and individual D is better
Their goaltending is better
They were more determined on special teams

The flyers have to play at the very top of their game for 60 minutes to win a game
To win four?

Giroux should see the ice a lot more....if they double shift him once in a while it starts to make the match ups more tough to get.

It's like they haven't won any playoff rounds in 10 years. Tell me about it!

Simmonds is one of the worst of the Flyers forwards at getting out of the zone along the side boards.

Also let's not forget that 5 day hiatus that always is SO GOOD to the Flyers.

Game 2 will be a completely different story.

Till then, I'll be crying about molec. Off to watch 11 hours worth of lectures, starting now

Coburn was good ... I thought Cooter had some good shifts.

Emery was good until the Rangers started going side to side on him.
