ugh

I'm nervous

we have Giroux though

- Marc D

Always nervous in the playoffs. On the edge for every play. But that's the fun of it. Remember, enjoy the ride! I'm looking for this team to come out and play their best Hockey. And if they get beat, so be it. I can live with that. If they lose due to poor play, or lack of discipline, or any other self inflicted wounds, then that won't sit so well. I'm looking for growth. Making the playoffs was a start. Now let's see what they got. Gonna be fun.

And it was a really bad trend down the stretch. I think the Flyers gave up 12 goals in the 3rd period in the last 5 games. That has to stop.
- MJL

the flyers are also a slight minus in the 2nd and the rangers were even. despite the slight minus, the flyers were routinely outplayed in this period all season. this worries me as well, but less than the 3rd period issues.

i don't want to see an even game and have them lose with 5 minutes left with a carryover effect into the next game. it's really key to not blow games late. obvious, i know.

Hmm. You do that too? We're insane.

When my tv had a dial to change the channel way back when, if the other team took the lead I'd go through all 13 channels counter clockwise. Same when they were on UHF except more channels so yes, I'm completely nutz.

The formula for consistent winning hockey is to get the lead, and build on it. Or at least play even, then get the lead, and then shut it down. All the come from behind wins were great for the Flyers this year. But that's not likely going to be a successful formula in the Stanley Cup playoffs, against the best teams in the League.

There was nothing smug in any comment I made. I gave my opinion on what I think the game plan is going to be. And the content of my post was all Hockey. The replies, not so much.
- MJL

And this is the first time you said "my opinion," which is why your comments seem smug, as the other posters, even the polite ones, explained.

Next comment about another poster misses game 1.

And yes, he's as smug as all poop. But there's no rule against it. Yet. The worst thing you could do to him is ignore him. You do realize that, don't you? And yes, we all want the damned button.

How many posts were made on this thread, not using the words "my opinion". I'll be glad to point them out. 25 pages worth. Seems as though there is a double standard being applied here. I'll make it easy, unless I state that something I'm posting as fact, I'm always giving my opinion. A bunch of nonsense over nothing.

seems to me that the posters and the owners need to hammer out a collective posting agreement. I'm a lawyer and will volunteer to be mediator and scrivener in exchange for 40 subscriptions to Vibe.

Come on, Jason Akeson!

Yep, I said it.

I'm totally rooting for that kid tonight. Not because all the "Art Ross" Akeson folks have to eat it because the guy did perform well enough, in just 13 minutes of ice time, to get a shot.

But because, as a fan, I have a pretty decent idea what the rest of the Flyers are going to do, how they're going to play, how much and in what situations they're going to play.

With a kid like Akeson, who has more flaws than most players...I still believe that being rewarded for hard work and production is not a sin. Terry Murray buried Akeson in the ECHL at the beginning of last year, for gosh sakes.

And that kid earned his way back up the AHL in, like, two weeks. And led the Phantoms in scoring...again. And led them this year.

This kid is why I enjoy watching the games. I have NO IDEA what this kid will do, if he'll even be in the lineup for Game 2, if he'll ever get another shot again.

But he got this shot, because he earned it. Easy for me to root for a kid who does that.

If he's in the lineup, you root for him,. Why not? Murray and the Flyers sent Akeson to the ECHL for a reason, to try and instill in him that he needs to improve away from the puck, if he truly wants to have a long NHL career. I think if Akeson get's the puck on his stick in the right situation, he can make an offensive play, and hopefully help the team. Just hope his weaknesses don't come into play as much.

Like I said earlier. If he plays even close to well, it'll be huge for the team.
