Do you have any past playoff history to back this up????
- GOA88

Hmm. Perhaps you didn't understand. You see, my point was that I agreed with you, insofar as Price's lack of playoff success in the past. Then, I indicated that it's my opinion that he's a different goalie this season, for various reasons that I could give you if you like. That being the case, it's also my opinion that this will help him to be better in these playoffs. He had a rough start no doubt, but he picked up his game and excelled in OT.

Typical habs fan. Let's change subject and diss other teams when we have no argument.

I was just pointing the evidence: Price has been performing very well during the season ever since he came in the league, with the exception of the year Halak stole his job because he was on fire.

But Price has always sucked in the playoffs. Numbers don't lie. You can't hide it. It showed again yesterday. It showed last year against the Sens.

No fans of any other team do this. Ever.

well i think, given the season he just had, we'll wait a few more games before making sweeping declarations about 2014 playoff performance. he wasn't sharp last night, but it was nothing like last year. he was serving grapefruits against the Senators last year. last night he got beat by some shots that he could have had but nothing egregious.

Price did not have a very good regular season last year. He had a good start but was very average for the last half of the short season. He had a .907 save % last year compared to .927 this year so there is a big difference. The year Boston won the cup, Price played great in the playoffs and gave them a chance to win. That's all you can ask of your goalie.

As far as last night's game, if you get 4 by Price this year and don't win the game, I don't like your chances in the rest of the series. This will be Price's worst game of this series. Waite will look at tape and make adjustments as he has done the whole season. This is the first season that I've seen Price not have a bad stretch of games and his goaltending coach has a lot to do with that.

Well, IMO, if these 2 teams keep playing the way they did last night, no matter who wins, the second round will be their last.

Price has to show up and the Lightning's defense need to tighten up.

This thread is ridiculous, I couldn't even get past page 2. Habs fans, go talk in your own thread. Michael gave you all plenty of credit for a well-played game while the Bolts had a learning experience type of game. They played like the young team they are, so now we move on to game 2. Oh, and in case it got missed, Habs fans go talk in your own thread

well, to be honest, if you can't handle a few rival posters giving their opinion, i think you're on the wrong site. you'd probably be better off on an all-Lightning website or something.

It has nothing to do with rival posters. It is the incessant bullpoop talk about "playoff Price" or whatever was said that you guys felt you needed to defend over and over again. There was plenty of credit given to the Habs, and deservedly so. They played a damn good game while the Bolts lost focus way too many times as a young team could be somewhat expected to.

I can handle talking to anyone from any team as long as the talk is constructive. What was happening in this thread was not constructive. It was Habs fans getting butthurt and defending what didn't need to be defended.

So the thing you disliked was when Habs fans defended their Habs goalie. Do I have that right?

And like I said, go do that in a Habs thread

Defending Price is not a hockey discussion. It is Habs fans defending their goaltender. Yet who are they defending him from? Thus my issue b/c there was plenty of credit given to the entire Habs team including by me

To directly answer your question I didn't like 5 pages of "defending Price". He didn't play well last night. I don't give a poop how he has done in the past and I won't spout off stats non-sense from past years that have no effect on THIS season. It was 1 game and he didn't play well. That being said he is a world-class tender and he will be better in this series.

Now that has been settled and it didn't take 5 pages of back and forth non-sense

Any poster can go to any thread and defend anyone they want. If other posters don't like what's being said, they can do what you're doing now. That's just the way it works here.

I agree with that. There is a positive and a negative way to judge the game for both sides.

But what i am really confidetn about, is that game is'nt really representative of the way the rest of the series will be played.

Price was awful for the regular 60 minutes.

He was pretty solid during the OT. He needs to be the latter for the rest of the series. If not, the result might be desatrous.
