I always get upset with this Price poop because he is the reason we are even in the playoffs. Without Price we are in the draft lottery last night. You'd be surprised how many Hab fans are throwing him under the bus after this first game. Makes me sick. - HabsRUs
price is a a plus goalie top 3 goalie in the nhl for sure |

Of course we had a solid road game. I didn't see the final count but we probably doubled you in shots, or close. Im just saying you are not going to get a perfect combination of stupid turnovers plus a "off game" from Price any more in the series. You failed to take advantage. Thats all - HabsRUs
I wouldn't call 4 goals on 18(?) shots failing to take advantage of a goalie having a bad game . We failed to turn things around after taking advantage , that was the problem |

Outplayed all night and Montreal controlled the play and deserved the win. Definitely not how anyone had it scripted. They gave Montreal easy access and were late to the puck all night. Brewer looked old and slow and Gudas can throw a check and still get taken to school and gotleft looking for his jockstrap by Plek all night. They were soft on their passes all night try some short crisp passes. Montreal had a step all night and had a great forechecking game on tonight. Not a good performance for this time of year. Price looked average tonight and high stick side is his weakness but you're not going to win being outshot and outplayed most of the night. Time to put away the nerves boys and tighten it up. P.K. Can skate shoot and throw a check but never takes a check to make a play, avoids all checks if possible and doesn't like to get checked and will take stupid penalties- all in evidence tonight. time to reset and tighten it up for game 2 . |

just ugh we put 4 goals on price and lose - todd1a
4 goals on playoff Price is nothing. If Bishop comes back you guys wont lose. Even if you get dominated like last night. Price chokes in NHL playoffs. |

Thats because Price never delivers in the playoffs...... Look at the stats. He was even benched in 2010. |

Carey Price suffers from the Joe Thornton syndrome. Carries the team on his back during the season only to be drastically bad in the playoffs |

that's really debatable:
quick, rask, lundqvist, miller, schneider, bishop, etc.
i'm not saying he isn't good, but he's not for sure a top 3 guy in the NHL.........i'd say top 5, but the first 3 guys i listed...i'm taking all of them before price. |

You'd say Schneider and Bishop before Rinne? Seems short-sighted when you're including Miller after a pretty poor season. |

i said etc......was just listing the guys off the top of my head. probably overlooked rinne since he hardly played at all this year.
i would say he's definitely in the conversation with that same group of goalies.

No worries, I like your list, I just felt like picking a pointless fight for whatever reason.
Before this season I'd have Rinne in my top 3 over Quick, but I have always taken Quick's play with a grain of salt because LA's defense seems to do so well. Not to say he isn't good, I just think he'd be worse on the Predators.
Is Lundqvist gonna steal the show against Philly? |

i'm not sure i'd put rinne that high. he plays in an incredibly defensive minded system in nashville........similar to phoenix.
goalies who play well in those systems, don't always do well when taken out.
look at bryz and lindback, for example.
i know nashville has never had much support for rinne, but still.
i'd say he's a fringe top 5 on my list. |

what does ottawa's season have to do with carey price not having much playoff success?
such a weak attempt to deflect from the subject at hand. |

I rank Rinne a little higher than most as I lived in Nashville for a couple of years and saw him play a lot. And not being a Preds fan it was pretty objective. Just think his mobility is insane. |

Like I said, he came up big in overtime and mtl won. He will have the chance to bounce back. Just think you guys make it a big story when it's not. He had a great season, he has a gold medal and I am not sure mtl fans should panick yet. |

fair enough.....i lived in ottawa, and now Halifax, so i've almost never seen him play. you probably have a much better guage on his ability then i do.
still, if i'm starting a franchise, my top 3 choices for goalies would be quick, rask, lundqvist (in no particular order) |

I would love to have Rask. It's too bad the Leafs never got a shot at him.

i never said anything about panicing.
he mentioned that price is historically a poor playoff performer.........which is a fact. even last night; yes, he made some nice saves in OT, but overall he had a bad game. .840 sv%, and a GAA over 3.
and your response was to basically say his opinion was invalid because the sens had a bad season..........pretty weak.
sens fans are in an excellent position to criticize price's playoff performance, since we're the team who most recently benefitted from him poopting the bed when the games mattered most.
obviously he could bounce back.......but he could just as easily continue to let in weak goals. if i were a habs fan, i wouldn't be panicing, but i'd probably be a little concerned. |

The whole team poop the bed last year. Can't blame only price on this one.
I think the defense can be better than last night as weel. They did create a few turnovers.
There is more depth on this team than last year and since Vanek came, this team showed they can win 5-4 games.
Tampa just lost home ice advantage so I will wait a little bit before being concerned. Lindback was way worse than Price in my opinion. He can't control the puck. |
