If Nylander is there, he could be hard to pass up. Ritchie is just something the Leafs really need up front, but they say he can be a bit inconsistent - which could be due to age. I can't imagine how freakin big that kid is going to be when all said and done.

8) Toronto Maple Leafs — William Nylander, C, MODO (SHL) Toronto’s eternal search for a No. 1 center should continue with the selection of Nylander, the son of a former NHLer. He has fantastic hands and tremendous play-making ability, and he’s responsible in his own zone. His offensive awareness and speed are breathtaking, and are reasons why he’s one of the most exciting players in this class. Nylander already has proven he can score goals and excel on the power play against professional opponents in Sweden, and he’d only need one more season of development before being ready for the NHL.

Nylander looks intriguing..

If Russia wanted good hockey players, they'd invade us lol

Also I think Alex Ponikarovsky (former leaf) is Ukrainian.

- Bigzby

They could invade Alaska and claim Gomez? Pokaroo, forgot about that guy for a minute.. I know antropov was a Russian debt collector in Kazahkstan, not the same thing obviously.

old buildings didnt have low ceilings by design necessarily, it was by availability of construction product

just did a quick read through on wikipedia.

Turns out human height actually decreased during the early industrial era, because of increased poverty.

But it also seems as though those of us in North America are taller than our counterparts around the world... and always have been. Natives had the highest average height in the world, and European populations that moved here quickly outgrew the populations back home.

Must be the amount of food we produce here, and our current culture of excess.

If you go to some really old houses you will see cut out holes in the ceiling for the upstairs, it was their central heating back in the day, lol.

yup, and they used heat sinks to try and trap it as well.

now humans have gotten taller.. its true.. but the conspiracy about hormone use is drastically over-used.

the spike in height has occurred evenly over the last 150 years.

it has more to do with a better standard of living than anything

you nailed it right there

as the standard of living gets better.. so does our diets .. allowing us to reach a potential that was likely already inherent in our genes.

yea, I guess a lot of people in our parent's generation came from communism, and leaner times in general.

We're in a massive boom right now... despite what all the doomsayers say, we've never been in a better situation than we are now.

I thouht Sudan or Sengal had the tallest people? An arnt the Dutch pretty tall? I've always figured the taller people in N.America are due to interracial breeding, causing unusual genetics.. But now that there are many philippinos coming I'm sure out average height will will drop dramatically, doesn't help that many are good looking too.

as tech advances more and more rapidly so will the standard of living.

people who fear change will be left behind moving forward.. so they say and do anything to try to hold the rest of us up

its unconscious fear mongering, nothing more.

Speaking of basketball and size, I read some where that slavery had an effect on the size of African americans.

No no no. Nothing racist to see here.

It had to do with the slave drivers selecting who mated with whom.
