Mrs Lums was a competitive sailor as a teen/into her early 20s, so realised that makeup is just gonna wash off anyways...

... plus she's a mechanical engineer and feels like the girls in the office who are completely covered in makeup and bathed in perfume aren't taken as seriously (and she just became the youngest project lead at the office )
