I can tolerate him for 1 more year. I honestly wouldn't mind him if he was the 7th guy and only played about half of the games each year. I think there are aspects of his game that we need, I just hate that they come with aspects that are terrible as well.

You and I seem to feel the same way about it.

I guess I just gravitate more to the guys like Miller who come out and say things like "I have unfinished business here in Buffalo. I want to bring this city a Stanley Cup" when they sign their extension. As much as he knew and we all knew it was time for him to leave this year, it was still something that both he and the fans hated. You could see how upset he was at his press conference.

Vanek is pretty much the polar opposite. I think the way we relate to guys all depends on our own specific personalities as well.

I really didn't think much about it at the time. Mostly because I was still stinging from the Drury and Briere departure. But after 7 years it makes me realize what he is all about.

I didn't jump right to the conclusion that Vanek wasn't loyal back then either. It took a few years for me to realize what had actually gone down too.

It all depends on him. Does he want to test free agency or does he want to continue playing on a powerhouse team and have the chance of winning a few more Cups there.

I think its the latter. Chicago is a great city. They've been good to him and he's been good to them. He's got great guidance with his family. I can't imagine he or they feel Buffalo would be better for his career.

I think its funny it took Vanek to be traded off our team, and pull the same stunt to the NYI, and his antics at the Olympics, for people to finally come around on Vanek. I've only been saying those things for the last 7 years.

Someone couple pages ago says they cant see the hate Vanek is receiving now? Its long overdue.
