He's been quoted before saying next year's draft class is much stronger... - LetsGoBuffalo75
Does it matter if he doesn't have a job?
He's heard rumors Wang might sell the team... Does Snow think a new owner keeps him on next year of they miss the playoffs again?
No way
Also, giving us the pick this year will not sit well in the Isles locker room
He prob needs to trade the pick for someone that can help now
There's been rumblings about Tarvares being unhappy, how long till he wants out?

If the sabres want to keep Bennett at Center, I can see the Sabres grabbing him over Reinhart (see Nolan extension) - homiedclown
The interview I posted with Bennett's coach says they drafted him as a LW but when he saw his skating moved him to center 2 years ago. He played wing in midgets for McDavid who needed a winger who knew how to play the game and thought like him. He probably learned a thing or two from that supposed generational center. |

IMO Snow has made much more awful decisions. |

it's going to be so hard to wait for it to hit the states, bootleg versions will be on line before then - homiedclown
bump
I hope I'll have the patience. IMO nothing compares to watching it in a theater, unless it's filled with noisy kids
What is your take on the rumors that Gigan or some other Kaiju might be in it? In the trailer there's a short scene with something that looks somewhat like one of Gigan's claws hitting the ground, and it's gotten a decent bit of buzz. |

WE NEED EHLERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - gerbe75pts
I like Draisaitl
We need a power forward type that can score
Not that I don't like Ehlers
Pretty sure NYI doesn't give us their pick this year anyways
Maybe we can trade up if we get the StL 1st

I agree, I will be completely surprised if the Sabres get the Islanders pick this year. I think there's a better chance the Sabres trade for another 1st round pick than that happening. |

Ya...
But in all seriousness, he has to know his job is on the line.
I just don't see how he can ignore that for a player he MIGHT get in TWO years
Snow's situation is different than Murray's
Murray has the luxury of "building" a team
Snow need NYI to get back in the playoffs this year
If not, he's most likely gone IMO |

I'm watching The Top Ten Goalies on NBCSN and the Sabres had two of the top 10 goalies of all time (on their list) at the same time. Of course Fuhr was on the downside of his career with the Sabres. |

Nobody knows but the NYI front office. It's all speculation at this point, but with Snow's previous decisions, and the decisions that guys like Feaster have made in the past, I won't rule out anything. |

Ya, snow doesn't have the luxury to think two years ahead
He needs to make moves now
It's not necessarily smart, But his back is against the wall. And this pick is his best chance to improve the team right away.
I don't think free agents are gonna flock to NYI this year, so he doesn't have much choice IMO

I think he's going to make a big trade or two to try to strengthen the team and not bite his nails all year worrying that he looks like an even bigger fool for giving the Sabres a top 5 pick in a really strong draft. |

And the thing his he'll have to give up solid prospects or this years 1st in a trade to get a return that will help the team. It just leads to a bad way to build a winner. |

I think the "bad decision" plays into him keeping the pick this year
I'm sure he knows that even a mid-round pick is prob close to the quality he'd get picking 5th this year
But his job is on the line, and he can't afford to think that far ahead
The smart move is to give us the 2014 pick, but as you've said...

That's the corner he's backed himself into
He's kinda screwed either way IMO
But the only chance he really has is to go after it this year
He's gonna need that pick to do it |

Very true
Now his focus has to be the "quick fix" to try and save his job
I think the Isles are actually screwed no matter what he decides |

TM didn't sound committed to buying VL out but Id say it should be done either way and probably will be.I just love how bloggers and the media spin things.Watching the Jackets play last night gave me hope of how this team will look someday. The Pens eventually wore them down in the end but that team has a bright future. |

Depends on how GS views his current team.Trading for Vanek would indicate to me he thinks hes only a few players away and the future is now . He now needs to replace Moultson, is that guy in this years draft ? Its possible at number 5.I don't see him giving up the pick. |

If anything what that trade should tell him is that the team has a lot more issues than he initially thought. When he made the trade, it made sense. But the team continued it's downward spiral even after he made that big move to shake things up and try to wake up his roster.
Obviously it doesn't help that Tavares got hurt at the Olympics, but even with him they probably still finish somewhere in the 7-10 range. |

Which is about where they will be drafting next year IMO. They need 2 top 4 D a true starting goalie (Hiller isn't gonna cut it either). Plus they are keeping their coach which most Islanders fans have been saying they are a coach and a goalie away from being a playoff team. Kinda funny how they have disappeared from here after that it was announced he was staying. |

Yeah. I'm not going to fault Snow for the Vanek trade. In all reality, moving Moulson to get Vanek didn't do much because offensively, they bring pretty close to the same thing. Vanek has a bit more talent, but Moulson makes up for that with how much harder he's willing to work.
Snow really made the trade to send a message to the rest of the team and it seemed to have the opposite effect. They ended up basically falling asleep, and that was after already having a pretty sleepy start to the season. The trade made sense at the time, it just didn't work out the way many people thought would, including Snow.
