I hope Carrier gets some playing time. It will be interesting to see him play in the AHL.

I didn't know Kea hasn't dressed yet. Future 4th line, more skilled Gaustad like some have claimed I hope.

What about the Director of Central Scouting? What's he his Godfather?
- GilPerreault11

What about him? One guy makes a comparison and I should instantly believe every word he says?

Don't get me wrong I like Bennett just don't see why one man's opinion automatically makes him that which he described as.

He dressed one game I think.. My guess is he's probably good enough to play but they don't want to throw him in right now when its a playoff situation.. If he's not good enough to crack the 4th line in the AHL then there is a problem..

NHL Director of Central Scouting Dan Marr said. “The guys we have at the top all are in that mold, but when we look at Sam Bennett we see a guy who could potentially have a Jonathan Toews type of career.”

http://nhl.si.com/2014/04...kings-for-2014-nhl-draft/

Yet again, the words of the NHL Director of Central Scouting, and the player himself falls upon deaf and uncompromising ears.

He already posted that link, and I was referring to that

I'll just copy and paste my response:

"There are guys who elevate their game when it matters most, and you're looking to project which players will do that consistently at the next level," NHL Director of Central Scouting Dan Marr said. "The guys we have at the top all are in that mold, but when we look at Sam Bennett we see a guy who could potentially have a Jonathan Toews type of career."

It's a good thing he really stepped it up in the OHL playoffs

Saying he could have a career like Toews is baseless, in my opinion, and does not say at all that they play a similar style. Toews is an excellent defensive player who is mainly a playmaker on offense, and leader when it matters. Bennett doesn't even have a letter on his chest in Kingston, leans more toward the goal-scoring side of offense, and has been known for being reckless and a bit immature. If that's similar to Toews, I might as well just quit following hockey. Reinhart, on the other hand, is captain of his Kootenay team, excels on defense, and really stepped it up and carried his team during the second half of the season and during the playoffs.

I really don't see how comparables are so complicated. Bennett=Gilmour/Theo Fleury, Reinhart=Toews/Bergeron.

I didn't say that he wasn't. It's just not as big a part of his game as it is for a player like Toews IMO. For Bennett, his defensive ability is secondary to his offensive ability, while for an elite defensive player like Toews, they equal out. The only thing that the two share is a defensive side to their game, although Toews>>>>>>Bennett in that department.

I don't know that he will unless there's some injuries
Our forward lines are pretty set down there
With our young guys returned,
I think there's a decent chance they can make a run.
Depends on Makarov holding up though

I just cannot agree with "very good". From what I've seen, it's NHL level, but not outstanding, and not the main part of his game.

Still, I don't see his defensive play as "very good". There's a hell of a lot more to being very good defensively than being aggressive and dogged on the forecheck. It's also a lot about positioning, getting in shooting and passing lanes, not giving up the puck, reading what the opponent is going to do on any given play. That's why the Hockey IQ of guys like Reinhart goes such a long way, and why it makes HIM a "very good" defensive player IMO.

Either way, Bennett is nothing like Toews in just about every facet of the game. Toews=More of a playmaker, Bennett=More of a goal scorer. Toews=Mature, leader. Bennett=Reckless, somewhat immature. Toews=Somewhat reserved, Bennett=Very aggressive.
Toews=D just as important as O, Bennett=Offense is more of a focus.

I know a few local, tall, hard-working, blue-collar people who can replace them.

Their names are Patty and Teddy.
