Now I know what it's like to be a Devils' fan (league arbitrarily reversing sanctions), without the horribleness that comes with being a Devils' fan. - jmatchett383
You don't know what it's like to be a Devils Fan, because we've had a lot more winning and success than your franchise. |

I heard back/shoulder something something. Yesterday people were saying knee. I don't think anyone really knows outside the organeyezation. - bodiva88
I heard neck/whiplash type injury. Who knows. All I know is that if the Flyers can win this game with Emery in net. It gives the Flyers a big lift. And I think they can do it. |

Let's not get all doom and gloom yet.
I'm sure we would all feel a little more confident if the Flyers had a healthy Steve Mason going into the first round. But injuries happen.
The Flyers signed Ray Emery in the off season as a 1A -- in case the Mason reclamation project did not pan out. The organization has confidence in his play. He was a solid performer for Chicago last season. Let's see how he does before we all take a plunge off the Walt Whitman. |

I wouldn't say a lot more winning as a franchise. 3 Cups to 2. Flyers have been to the Finals a bunch of times, and made the playoffs a lot. |

I like this post. I like Emery. He worries the hell out of me, but I like him. I want to support him, especially considering the major health hurdle he overcame to get back to hockey.
I think a lot of the doom and gloom is actually disappointment. Mason comes in and defies the common perception (including mine) and actually kicks ass all season long. Then his shot at actually sealing the deal in the playoffs is possibly denied... its a serious gut check.
The Flyers can win this series. I think they can win it in a big way... but its going to take an effort we haven't seen this team make this season, except in *parts* of one or two games. I'm not confident that they're up to it, but I sure as hell hope they are. |

How is that "success" holding you over today? It's not even warm enough to go golfing, and there are 16 teams gearing up to play for the Stanley Cup. |

I'd hate to sound like a neanderthal or the "typical" Flyers fan, but the Flyers' best chance of winning this series is to literally pound on the Rangers every chance they get. Every single player should play as physical (and as clean) as possible, while not being so aggressive as to take themselves out of the play. They will just have to grind New York into submission. That, and we need the Mason/Emery combo to be at least equal to Lundqvist more often than not. - jmatchett383
as much as i love the disclaimer, you can certainly appreciate physicality without succumbing to the caveman, bullies mentality. i definitely agree. more than anything, you guys need to crowd the crease every chance you get. |

Well, this was before I knew Mason was out. Now that that is the case, I'd be okay if Chief let it be know that straight up running Lundqvist once or twice would not be frowned upon. THERE is the caveman coming out. |

Before hip injury, I'd be fine with emery.
After hip injury not so much.
Someone said it before, they need to keep him from having to move laterally. If they can keep play in front of him, I think they have a shot.
This might force the flyers to play as hard as they can. Or it could make them wilt like pink flowers in the winter.
We will find out the true character of this team. I look forward to it! |

Just KNEW this was gonna happen.
Defense was fairly healthy all season and seemed to be coming together a bit.
Giroux and overall team on a fairly good roll all things concerned.
Goaltending stability finally realized.
It was either gonna be Mason, Giroux, or Timonen. |

Hey. like I said...in 2010, we were all upset that we didn't have Michael Leighton late in the season. Really, let that sink in for a bit. |

It's a little subjective...... one fan's sense of "physicality" is another fan's sense of "caveman, bullies mentality".
It's like when New York fans boo: THEY ARE PASSIONATE AND KNOW THE GAME!
When anyone else (esp Philly fans) boo: THEY ARE HORRIBLE FANZ! |

I think they'll be fine.
It's actually pretty fortunate that Berube had recently gotten Emery some more starts recently. |
