He needlessly checked a defender into the goalie. It doesnt matter if it was intentional or not. You go to him right then and there.. not a period later after you lose your goalie to a (probable) concussion.

I understand that. But the reality is that nothing good can come from it. Megna is not going to fight anyone. And it won't take back the injury. I don't see it as a cheap shot. Just two players battling to the net. And it's unfortunate that Mason got hurt.

i have no issue with emery starting, the guys been to this dance before..nothing against mason but in all reality emery will be a better option for playoff hockey, he has been pretty rock solid his last couple of starts besides the d playing poopy in front of him.

My worry with Emery is his recovery time and rebound control against a very fast NYR team.

The bolded part is correct. As for the rest, it's debatable to say the least. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you don't watch many Ducks games, though.

Edit: DAMMIT!!!

I've seen Getzlaf play plenty over the last 8-10 years or whatver it is he has played. He is for sure great. Just not on Girouxs level IMO. Im not saying he is leaps and bounds better. Just the better player. Thats my opinion.

Mason wasn't even at the practice facility today and he won't make the trip to NYC. This doesn't look good at all. I think we're looking at Emery for the foreseeable future.

See how it helps to have a negative outlook. I sensed from Berube's comments on Monday that Mase wouldn't go game 1. More people need to read deeper into quotes to get the true meaning. I've been prepping for Emery.

Pretty much a lucky guess. And how exactly is that negative outlook going to help the Flyers in the game tomorrow night?

Lateral movement is lacking. But we'll see how well the defense can respond. I mean, it's not like the Flyers have ever made it to the finals with sub-par goaltending (cough...cough...Leighton and Boucher...cough cough).

This...especially play down low on wrap arounds and passes out front from behind the net.

I think Giroux is better than Getzlaf, but its really close. I think Getzlaf can become a little lackadaisical at times. Giroux is almost always a max effort player.

I think Getzlaf will age more gracefully because he has size.

I think the negative outlook was for his benefit, not the team's. Also, he had a 50% chance of being right. Wouldn't call it lucky; just an educated guess based on what the coach/GM/team provided info-wise.

Maybe wih Emery playing the Flyers will really be locked in on the defensive side of the puck. Sometimes teams rise to the occasion when the back up plays.
