I have never understood the "controversy" over whether the NYI should trade this years or next years 1st rounder. Unless you absolutely know the team is going to suck terribly you have to give up next years pick.

If you give up the 5th pick this year you are basically saying the organization has no faith in its ability to win hockey games. Confidence crushing right out of the gate for next years season.

If you give up the 5th pick this year and finish significantly higher next year the NYI look like idiots.

I know the 2015 draft is supposed to be amazing but hype or hate have been proven very wrong about drafts before.

This draft is supposed to be weak but I've heard more chatter about the top 6-8 guys that you would think it is a strong draft, at least at the top.

I do not think anyone can project how strong or weak a draft is until right up until the draft itself, and then no one will know for sure how strong the draft truly was for another 5-10 years after.

Dal Colle is supposed to be the best scorer in the draft and should fall to 5. I don't know how you can pass that up for who knows what next year.

As a life long Isles fan I agree 1000%. Make the pick this year. Take Dal Colle or Ehlers.

couldn't agree more...watch him here in Halifax....he would fit the Isles system and team very well...top line guy....would love for him to go to Isles.

So he already knows about their amazing defensive positioning?
