dont get all senstive keaner, i like you post too. Well, ever 1 in 10. JK.

well guys, cant believe we arent watching playoff hockey. Its simple, we dropped all of novemeber and that why we arent in.

Snow got injured b/c cappy kept riding him. Had he alternated with Him and Nillson we probably would have been in better shape.

FINGERS CROSSED FOR TONIGHT> please not another first pick for edmonton. Talk about a franchise that is one step behind isles. at least we got to see post season last year.

We have cheap other and buffoon coach. what is Toronto and Edmontons excuse every year?

Meh. Not on board with this bcs of Capuano #1 and our defense. To me Snow endorsing Capuano is telling us what kind of offseason we'll have. There is not a FA out there that's going to sign up for this clown show. I know i wouldn't and without any outside editions and that moron behind the bench I can't say truthfully they will be better. They may be worse.

Can't disagree. There's a very good chance this team could make other improvements and still suffer the same fate because Flintstone remains.

That said, if we are to agree that the three major issues here, in no particular order, are goaltending, need for a dman and Cappy, it wouldn't be outrageous to assume the team could do much better with two of those three issues fixed.

Obviously past history on Snow's lack of urgency don't give a lot of reason for hope, but I do think a goalie will be obtained this year. That alone may be enough to get us far closer to the bubble.

One thing I will agree on, as long as Cappy is the coach this team will never be a serious threat to the second round let alone the cup.

- keaner17

You could interchange Capuano's name with Snow's and it'd still be spot on.

Defend what? Him drafting prospects to have them tutored by some moron? Trading away assets for nothing? Him being incapable of landing ANY FA save for someone who is done and can't get a contract anywhere else? Sometimes you mak it sound like it's not warranted. The guy has NOT done a good job. You can have all of the best prospects in the world but when you have Capuano as coach it's all for naught. Pissing in the wind. Most aggravating thing is to watch a team that's so close and continually watch the GM make glaringly obvious not even debatable bad decision after bad decision to impede the teams growth into a competitor. It's sickening. As far as which one is an anomally how long has Snow been GM and how many times have we made the playoffs? The answer is right there. There's no debating this and anyone who thinks there is a debate here is nuttier than a squirrel turd. I swear to christ being on this thread is like watching the last election all over again sometimes.

I'm referring to over his entire tenure. In other words, this year was the smoking gun all of the Snow skeptics had been waiting for. Last year, despite the success, was not met with the same level of passion. In other words, folks were always more ready to critique than support. That's not a comment saying any of them are right or wrong, just reality.
Much like DP, there was a huge portion of fans that hate the kid from year 1. A large portion of people simply didn't like him and were more than just a little ready when he started to show signs that he might not meet his potential. It's the ebb and flow of internet fans.

Snow's criticism is completely deserved. Like I said, he deserves to be fired. That said, the makeup of this team changes drastically if they can find a goalie, a dman and a coach. Three components.

Do you really think this year was what Snow's skeptics were all waiting for? Come on man. There is so much shat anyone could pile on to this stinking heap of crap excluding this year. You make it sound like there's been sound decision making going on for the last seven years. The guy has been out to lunch since the get go. Last year was successful but last year should have happened two yrs ago according to Snow himself! He's failed his own plan for facks sake. Give me a break.

Well, if you truly believe that Snow hasn't put in enough of an effort to fill holes over the last season, then his retaining Cappy can be seen as an indication that he agrees with you. By retaining Cappy, Snow is effectively saying this season is the GM's fault. So hopefully, he plans to be a little more aggressive in correcting his mistakes. That's all we've got at this point.

Deal. We will do it by record alone. After hearing Capuano is definitely back next year I'm confident. If he gets fired before he can ruin next season I'll give you forty just because I'll be happy Snow got forced into making a smart decision. Again.

From the standpoint of piling on? Chya....
I think even if they hit the playoffs this season, there'd still be a lot of folks who remained rather 'quiet' about Snow. But the moment it goes wrong (and again,,,he deserves it), it was like watching the dike burst. So yeah..pent up aggression, whatever.

As for the second bold....no....you interpret it that way. This ALWAYS FRIGGIN HAPPENS HERE!

If you don't say the guy has failed at everything he's ever done since birth, you're suddenly asking he be extended for a decade.

It all certainly blew up in his face. No doubt. As I've said, he should be fired, but I won't scream bloody murder if he gets this coming season to save his neck. There have been more valleys than peaks under Snow and to what extent of that is his own doing, I'm not sure. However, there's always been more folks loading their blogging guns to fire at Garth than defend him, so when something like this season occurs, it's not surprising that final conclusions have been redrawn and the angry villagers are in full lockstep.
I do wonder what the climate will be like if he gets his goalie and the team suddenly performs more like 2012-13. Do the voices again die out?
This rebuild has never shown the progression it should have but another big step forward could heal a lot of wounds from this past season. It should be his final chance to show which one was truly the anomally....2012-13 or 2013-14.

- keaner17

You're like Mark Antony giving the speech after Ceaser's death

This rebuild has never shown the progression it should have... That's about the sum of it. Guy got a longer leash than many, many GMs who have gone through rebuilds, and most of those other guys were able to show more after six years at it.

As far as how much is his doing versus shadowy circumstances that go into spy novel territory about all the forces conspiring against him at the highest levels to prevent him from making a good trade or icing a good team, I don't know. There always seem to be excuses and justifications, along with assurances that bad moves will be good moves once we see the whole plan. But maybe it’s all no more complicated than Snow is not a good GM, and therefore doesn’t make good decisions? Occam’s Razor and all.

It's not that. I feel he's not capable and is not smart or savy enough to know what holes to fill even if he had something to fill them with. Glaring whole in goaltending and defense. Well Thomas Vanek is the answer of course. PMB and Regin will solidify our blue line. He's not CAPABLE doesn't matter what the reason is.

It's funny how everyone always misinterpets your posts. Coincidence I guess? Or maybe it's because you make comments like the one I responded too that need clarification? Now don't go exagerrating this now into some Snow apologists rant. You say something like you did like I was standing by waiting for the season to implode so i could be right. Sorry to say but this was a pretty obvious picture for most Jul 2nd. For the ones that had hope, good for you. For the ones that believed in the team we had and our coach and GM to help this team succeed this year well you're facking moron. Sorry. There isn't a Snow skeptic alive that didn't want to be wrong I assure you, myself included. Snow skeptic just means someone with common sense. At this point if you're not at least a skeptic you're a sucker.

Et Tu?

I've given Snow a mulligan over the years due to the "Wang" Issue, UFA problems, stadium issue etc....
It was THIS season that I consider the first real year I can point at him and say without any concern of undeserved blame and say "YOU SCREWED THIS UP!"
It's why I'm willing to say he SHOULD be fired now. If it were my choice, he'd be out. That said, if he can manage to correct the glaring holes he left this season and get this team back in the swing of things, perhaps we can simply say that 2013-14 was a stumble rather than plunge. I'm not confident that will be the case, especially with Cappy still at the helm, but what choice have I got other than to wait?
