I hate everything about the Philly franchise but I am pulling hard for them to eliminate the rags early. - mighty13duck
Me too. Root for anybody playing the rags. Then if Philly wins, I want them losing. |

We should all take a moment to congratulate the most recent former Islanders participating in this years Stanley Cup playoffs. Cheers for Amac, Streit, Nino, Molulson, Vanek & Regin.
I think I've uncovered a previously under realized/appreciated strength of Garth: When you leave the Islanders, it's most often for the better! |

Eh, I just don't see it. Bubble team maybe, but not a solid playoff team. And I say that with full recognition of the team I root for. - UIF
I agree- I think Schneider is their bright spot. I mostly see a bunch of old men and mediocre young players. The only thing that makes them good is their system. We swap coaches with them, and we'd finish WAY ahead of them, with the same players. No question in my mind about that. |

larsson-merrill
fayne? salvador? volchenkov? zidlicky?
right there 2 of the best goalies and defenses in the league...i wouldnt sleep on the devils being a force next year. - LetsGoIsles
Not really impressed by any of those players other than Schneider and maybe Larsson, who's a kid. Now, if you're comparing them to the -47, Strait, Martinek, Carkner, Hamonic and Ness lineup, I get that. However, the only two of those guys you're going to see in an Islanders uniform two years from are Hamonic and possibly Strait, and Strait will mostly be watching from the sky box. |

I don't think so- that asinine "system" did us in, and it's going to do us in again next year, unless Cappy gets the hook and is replaced by a big league coach. The following season is the one where I think we're going to have so much talent that even he can't f**k it up that badly. |

He is not ready NOW. However, he's now officially had his first extended taste of the NHL. So he has a much better idea of what he needs to do to get up to speed to become a solid NHL goalie. His coaches in turn also have had an extended look at him in NHL action. They can better judge how he tracks pucks, plays angles, recovers, reads plays etc at NHL speeds. This allows them to work with him extensively during the offseason and provide a much improved Nilsson going into next season.
In a perfect world, we come away with a top tier goalie who can shoulder the load while Nabby takes say 30 games or so. Meanwhile Nilsson spends more time in the AHL. That said, a better prepared more driven Nilsson could be miles better for the health of this franchise next year than Brodeur on his death bed.... - keaner17
He needs to get his a$$ out of the net- that's most of his problem. A guy that big shouldn't be hiding inside the goal, he should be out intimidating the shooters with his presence and size. I saw a little bit of the nasty in him a couple of times this year, and I'd like to see more of that. A little slashing and spearing by the netminder never hurt anyone, especially if he backs it up by coming out and asserting his position. |

Not the rest of the hockey world... just this board.
I could care less what they make.
Not my money... I just want NHL players on this team.
