Nolan doesn't have a say.. If Murray says the kids staying he's staying.. But everyone loves to say Nolan is not a fan of playing kids but really that's a bit embellished.. If a kid plays well enough he's not going to deny his team of putting out the best players if they appear ready.. Look at Girgensons... He's all ready come out and said Ristolianen will be here next year as long as he doesn't have a drop off in training camp.. Nolan isn't used to getting a player with as high of a caliber as what we will be getting in this draft. History shows those guys play right away - bluengold12
If you don't think Nolan has a say, then you really weren't listening very well earlier. |

They are going to have to stand out in camp . Why waste a year of entry level deal and put that player in a losing enviornment . Maybe Edmonton should have sent their number ones back for another year . Bringing them up right away is working so well. - Maximum Signal
Has for other players.. Murray doesn't give a crap about wasting a year if the player is ready he's going to play if not then whatever.. If they really cared about wasting entry deals McCabe wouldn't be here right now. |

I can guarantee he gets the C next season. The way Nolan and Murray talked about him today, you can tell they just love him. Everyone loves him...except MrSquirrel - CaptainRivet

I live pretty close, only like a 10 min drive. I also happen to be off on Friday this week, so that's probably when I'll head over to pick it up. |

Yeah, his name and Hodgson's came up from them a few times. I think they like Cody, just trying to figure out where he works the best. - HonkFortheGoose
I got a sense that Nolan wants him on the wing, but he kind of stumbled when asked what position he wants him at. |

The McCabe situation is different. He was a college player. They were trying to lure him into giving up his senior year. |

If you just read that only got out of it that Nolan doesn't have a say then you completely missed the point.. I said Nolan doesn't have the final say he has to answer to the GM and also said that even if Nolan generally doesn't like playing young guys he's not going to not play someone deserving of being on the team he's not as stubborn as everyone is trying to make him out to be. |

I loved that when he was on a line with Girgs he was actually using his body and being a physical force. It's interesting how that seemed to happen to every player that Girgs played with this year. |

The fact that people are not willing to accept the fact that if the guy we drafts plays well enough to make the team outright shows me they are not being very realistic.. I'm looking at simple historical facts and common sense here.. 1st overall picks always play right away 2nd overall do a lot of the time. I'm not guaranteeing it but I'm saying if the player shows he can hang he will play here and I don't really get why others want to make it into a bigger deal than that.. |

It's contagious. When Girgs got the forecheck going and battles for the puck, Hodgson would go right into the corner and throw his weight around. I loved it. |

Disagree with this 110%
It was mentioned multiple times during that press conference that Murray and Nolan are in this together. Player evaluations, coaching evaluations, everything. |

Missing the point yet again.. Meant Nolan doesn't have the final say.. Murray is the GM he is in charge of which players are here and not.. Nolan can voice his opinion and make the lines but Murray decides whose playing in Buffalo and not. |

Yes, that's Murray's job. Nolan has a say in it though. You said he didn't. |

I think that's why Murray does it. Not to mention you push their ELC back a year, thus pushing their UFA age back as well. Why waste a year of their contract on a season you still think is going to be pretty rough? - HonkFortheGoose
Or you put your best 23 players on the ice. Regarless if he is a 18-19 year old rookie or not. |

What you can't seem to accept is that Murray has said he's going to do things the way he wants to, not the way that everyone else has done them. He doesn't give a crap about what everyone else thinks. |

How to know what the Islanders are going to do with the pick. Whatever makes sense they will do the opposite. It is that simple |
