Ted Nolan, never described as a "teacher" of players, is who really bothers me. With a lot of potential young faces here in the next few years, we need a teacher more than a coach who says cliches relentlessly. Ted Nolan will continue to set this club back.

Well, I could argue the other way around. They had a "teacher" type of coach before Nolan in Rolston and we saw how that worked out for us....

He's a teacher of NCAA players, not pros.

Made a lot of sense when he directed 57 and 10 to NOT carry the puck and just wrapped it off the glass/walls.

My point was more or less that you generally need someone who can relate to both the vets and the kids. A nice blend of both. Nolan may not be the best teacher, but he could bring in an assistant that is, so don't just dislike him for that reason.

On this, even though i don't much care for him, Paul Maurice would have been my ideal candidate (timing alone would make that impossible). I think Nolan can build a leadership group around a few of our young players and vets - he has Myers, Stafford, Ennis, and of course Girgensons responding to him quite well.

Lieuwen has improved since they drafted him. So has Enroth. I would think that Miller did as well. But I could just be crazy.
