why is that ??? too young?
- GadesnSens

Yep, it's CHL or NHL. He can only play in the A if his junior team is eliminated.

I would take that goal and move. There's every evidence that Edler just had some rotten bounces this year (on-ice shooting percentage below 4% while leading the team in Corsi).

How in the world do you lead a team in Corsi while simultaneously having the worst +/- in the league? That's a one in a million occurrence!

- Morris

That 3.98% on-ice EVSH% is maybe the lowest I've ever seen. Total fluke.

Hope Vancouver does something dumb and trades him for pennies/dollar.

Maclean or Spezza seems to be the scenario floating out there right now.
- Cup 06

You sense they're probably going to make Spezza the fall guy for this year, right or wrong ..

Fair, but disappointing. I've negotiated a new offer with my people, and I put forth this proposal:

Yakupov and your first for Spezza, Weircioch, and third.

- karlssens

Maybe closer given market value for Yakupov these days

I don't know what we'll do with the first. I last counted about 65 dmen who are either better than /as good as, or soon could be better than / as good as our best dman. I'd trade our 1st + Gagner for one of those 65 guys and a top 15-20 pick.

Me too. Getting him on the Oilers would be a boon, but getting good players out of the division is always a plus in and of itself.

TBH, outside the top 3 this draft really does suck... and even Reinheart is seen as a "gritty two-way player with offensive instincts" LOL, this is the second overall pick!

Weircioch would instantly be in your top 4 next year, with no need to develop. Edm wants to make the playoffs next year, and I think that pick is as good as gone. If you can get a #1 centre in Spezza and a top 4 D in Weir, that makes you guys much better. We shall see what unfolds.

I wonder what the chances of Lazar actually making the big team next year are... probably not good if Spezza stays. I feel like another year of junior would be a waste.

A trade for Spezza would start with Larsson and a first.
- karlssens

Don't be a complete homer, Larsson alone would fetch Spezza.

There's a Dman in toronto who could use a new home.

Perhaps something can be worked out,

well there's a hum-dinger then ..... he's proabably already reached his potential in junior, but I hold that for the benefit of his long term development, he should not be in the NHL (unless they really shelter his minutes).

i heard that murray actually wanted to keep him this year, but felt it was better for his development to play big minutes in jr, rather than on teh 4th line in ottawa.

and he's improved by leaps and bounds since last year

i think he has a DAMN good chance of making the team.

Completely off topic but what the hell happened to Paajarvi from St. Louis? I remember watching him at the world juniors and he was unbelievable.. now he gets 12 pts a season? Still young but sheeeesh. Although... we took Cowen that year, so yah

It seems that way. I don't agree with it and would like to see him stay long term. The market just isnt there for him. They won't get much for him.

They have been fishing on him him for a long time with little to no interest. Interest finally started to pickup pre deadline.

so many good forwards on this team or ready to arrive, honestly.

they really should package a couple off for a god damn defenseman.

lazar's probably untouchable but the rest, yeah ..

suppose you can try to buy low now, after a lockout shortened season and just coming off an injury, but Lou is no fool.

He's unlikely to trade a high-ceiling defenseman with sound fundamentals for an aging forward.

Wonder what Murray is looking for to come back? Top 2 D? Package deal? Top 3 winger? Who knows.

not sure about that.........he's been a pretty regular scratch from that lineup, and according to lot's of devils fans (i've asked about him a few times, would love to have him) he hasnt' been playing that well.

i'm not saying he has no value, but i don't think he's worth spezza all by himself.

i asked devils fans if they'd do a deal

ryan

for

larsson, brunner, 2015 1st

and they almost unanimously said yes. is ryan worth THAT MUCH more than spezza in a trade?

I guess the thing about adding a guy like Weircicoch is that there are sort of two competing impulses on the team. One is that we need to add veteran poise in solidifying the backend, and we need to make a huge leap forward. The Other is that perhaps both of Klefbom and Marincin are ready to play fulltime in the show and perhaps even Nurse is better to go to the NHL than back to junior for a 20 year old season. So in Weircioch rather than getting a guy who pushed Schultz/Petry/Ference out of the top pairing (favourable), we'd get a guy who pushed one of Klefbom/Marincin/Nurse onto the bottom pairing and the other off the roster. Weircicoch might simply be part of a logjam where we've already got promise.

Spezza's an undeniable talent to get though. With the interest in switching gears, Edmonton would probably be one of the only teams open to trading a 2015 1st.

Don't rule out the team "tanking" next year for one last piece.

By doing this some veterans will be moved out. Ie Spezza,Methot,Anderson etc.

Full blown youth/cheap year.

Hello Mcdavid

That's one fork in the crossroads they could take this offseason.
