Granted, it's just a guess at this point, but what does everybody see as Gost's ceiling in the NHL? A 2/3 guy? A 3/4? - wolfhounds
His absolute ceiling is Erik Karlsson. Realistically, probably a Slava Voynov type, a 3/4 guy who can QB the PP. |

Well, guess I'm just a jerk. But I don't know how else to say it. Your trade proposals (Malkin + for Ovechkin, for instance) are just...I don't know. It's not just you, so I do apologize for my wording, it was poor judgement. Some people just have this feeling that, if we get rid of some of our good players, and replace them with one player with high potential, we'll be a Cup contender, and that's just wrong. Whether it's Rundblad, Yakupov, Ekblad, etc., it really isn't logical to trade known good quantities in a package for a completely unknown quantity. Similarly, to act like people spending money has any bearing on how they treat a goalie who was hung out to dry is ludicrous. The kid was put in a tough spot, and I'm sure the booing and heckling sure was helping him play better.
Look, I'm sorry. I was very upset with a lot of people in the stands yesterday (I hate most Flyers fans), and took it to heart. I have nothing against you personally, and apologize for any personal attack on you. - jmatchett383

Anyone else think that the Wings could actually take out the Bruins? The Bruins are the favorite, deservedly, but the Wings are the team that I think is best suited to oust them, even more than the Penguins. - jmatchett383
I think the Wings can take them out, but if the Bruins are playing their game, I can't see anyone in the East taking them out, unless the Bruins lose a significant player during the playoffs, like Chara or Bergeron.
I don't think the Bruins are the most talented team in the East (still think that's the Pens), but they are pretty close. I just think there is too much punk in the Penguins' game to withstand a long series with Boston. |

I saw unbelievable skill in watching him in the tournament, granted it's against far weaker competition then what he would face at the NHL level, or even in the AHL for that matter. I think he has a chance to be a dynamic offensive player. His size concerns me some, and not sure how well he will play in his own end, but the offensive side of his game appears NHL ready now. |

I think the Bruins are the best team, and probably the most complete team, in the East. The Penguins have some skill, but they also have some holes (notably their bottom-6) while the Bruins are much more solid. Still, the Wings, for some reason, are the one team that I can see at least taking them 7. |

Well, if we're going to make an accurate comparison, you should go to the Pens thread and tell them you hate most Pens fans.

I'm not concerned with his size so much as his upper-body strength. He actually has a bit of a nasty streak and doesn't shy away from anything physically. He's not bad defensively, but he does take some risks that would get exposed at the next level. |

I'm guessing intellectual property (patents, trade secrets, and such). |

Tobias Enstrom....Torey Krug....and going further back to a guy like Brian Rafalski and even Dan Boyle.

intellectual property. and it is, but the whole socratic method law school thing can get really old. theyll sit there and grill the same person for like 20 minutes at a time. whether they know the answers or not. trying to get blood from a stone can kill classroom flow. |

Definitely takes risks. Perhaps he does because he knows he can get away with it at the collegiate level. He may dial things down a bit when he turns Pro. |

If you hate most Flyer Fans so much, you shouldn't be going to places they are known to frequent... like a flyers hockey game, or a flyers related forum.
Without people having different views, the only thing you would get in here all day is people telling Bill how good his blog is. (which it is). Talking is talking. Sometimes people say stupid things. I have a good memory too. I could talk about people being straight edge. But I avoid that topic because I know it annoys you.
But I guess haters gonna hate. Whether its a Goalie that is crapping his pants, or fellow posters on a forum. Some people are just Tools. |

Minnesota had like 10 drafted players on their team and some future draft picks. It'll be a jump but he was playing against future NHLers out there as well. I look forward to seeing him if he signs. I think he will. They can say what they want about Gudreau and I really like that kid but I thought Gostisbehere was the best player in the nation hands down. |

That risk taking is something that he can learn from coaching and experience. I wouldn't be bothered by that. I get the feeling that his puck handling and offensive ability is not going to be an issue. And what's going to determine how good of a player he is, is can he defend at the NHL level adequately enough. |
