Anyone else think that the Wings could actually take out the Bruins? The Bruins are the favorite, deservedly, but the Wings are the team that I think is best suited to oust them, even more than the Penguins.
- jmatchett383

The Pens arent suited to beat the Bruins at all. I can only see the Pens beating 2 teams. The Lightning and the Blue Jackets. They wont get far enough to beat the Lightning though

Have to a agree with your point. A fan that's paying attention might have an inkling that with the playoff situation decided, that some players might not play, and that the game might not have the same feel to it. Although I think after getting down 3-1, the game got pretty exciting for a meaningless game.

So does this mean I'm not superior than you because you agree? Or, are we equally superior than everyone else in here? I'm not so sure about my standing right now.

Interesting....

Gostisbehere was asked if he might have more financial leverage in leaving now, rather than waiting until after his senior year.

“I guess you could look at it like that,” he said. “But when you graduate, you can pick a different team sometimes, so both ways.”

Quick question regarding Gostisbehere:

The kid obviously has talent. His offensive instincts and raw abilities are evident. However, he's played at levels where, using only his natural talent, he's been able to basically dominate and score at will. He has some bad habits that will have to be taken care of.

So, my question is, how do you refine a player's defensive game, yet not take away the offensive prowess that made him so good. He's a player who loves having the puck, and is very dangerous coming down the wing. But at the next level, that will lead to more turnovers, and his speed differential won't be enough to make up for his "roving" if you will. Are any of you slightly afraid that he'll be forced to lose some of his game when he goes to the next level?

Eh, that's more vague that Johnny Gaudreau's "hints" that he wanted to play in Philly. All he did was answer the question honestly.

I only remember truly ridiculous or awesome things with any sort of vivid clarity. Your quick fixes and assessments fall into the former, for the most part.

Just don't know why people have to make it personal and say stuff like this. I really did like you. Almost considered you friendly at one point.

First off, I'll state that I have seen very little of the kid playing. I think talent is talent. And even small players that can play, can make it. But honestly from everything I read about the kid, is that he has an incredible skill level. But I worry about his size. He looks really small to me. That can be overcome, simply if the player is good enough. But if he was bigger, doubt the Flyers would've gotten him in a later round.

Yup, he does look tiny. But then, Akeson also looked like a mite on the ice yesterday, then I saw him next to Read and they looked to be the same size. Maybe Akeson's jersey tailor just sucks?

If I were the Flyers I would get him locked up asap. Eschewing turning pro for another year in friggin Schenectady wouldn't be a good sign.

Well, guess I'm just a jerk. But I don't know how else to say it. Your trade proposals (Malkin + for Ovechkin, for instance) are just...I don't know. It's not just you, so I do apologize for my wording, it was poor judgement. Some people just have this feeling that, if we get rid of some of our good players, and replace them with one player with high potential, we'll be a Cup contender, and that's just wrong. Whether it's Rundblad, Yakupov, Ekblad, etc., it really isn't logical to trade known good quantities in a package for a completely unknown quantity. Similarly, to act like people spending money has any bearing on how they treat a goalie who was hung out to dry is ludicrous. The kid was put in a tough spot, and I'm sure the booing and heckling sure was helping him play better.

Look, I'm sorry. I was very upset with a lot of people in the stands yesterday (I hate most Flyers fans), and took it to heart. I have nothing against you personally, and apologize for any personal attack on you.

IMO, he'll be fine... he roves, but like Keith or Doughty, he's relatively responsible and has the wheels to recover. And like G, he's got that ultra-competitive, hard-working, strap the team to his back, "it" quality. I really feel that he'll emerge as the crown jewel out of the Flyers' collection of young blueliners.

Granted, it's just a guess at this point, but what does everybody see as Gost's ceiling in the NHL? A 2/3 guy? A 3/4?

Maybe he really wants to get a college degree, or wants to try to win one more championship before he's never allowed to play there again.

I've been to a lot of Flyers games in my time. Expecting to be sorrounded by knowlegeable fans, that have a clue about what's going on, is not a reasonable expectation. Just from experience. 95% of sports fans don't have a clue. Just the way it is.
