Sure, if you play him on a top pairing, against top competition of course he will be terrible. |

He was pretty terrible for you guys, wasn't he? I remember seeing him fall on the ice with the puck causing turnovers, mishandling passes, passing directly to the other team, getting beat outside by speed, falling some more, passing the puck to nowhere some more. He was god awful for you guys. - rangerdanger94
Words can't describe. Happy he's found a new home for a while. Good for him |

It probably didn't help that you expected him to be a #1 defenseman and played him as one. |

That was not the case with Streit and AMAC. Any of us would have packed their bags. Happy you guys like these deals. We like them too - Cptmjl
You can like them or don't like them; it doesn't change the fact that the Islanders are watching the Flyers in the playoffs AGAIN. |

He has worked out so far for the Flyers so maybe he needed a change of scenery.
Streit had a pretty good year here as well.
Maybe the Isles will send the Flyers Hamonic next, and he goes on to be an all star for many years. |

Agreed. Capuano is one of the worst coaches I've seen. But that doesn't change that AMAC was terrible in ALL situations. That's the truth. If he has improved his game since playing with you guys then great. Once again, Islander fans and Flyer fans can rejoice over a deal btn the two teams. This has worked out well for both fan bases. |

I disagree with the term "puck moving" He makes a good first pass.. outside of that.. He doesnt contribute much in the moving category. Just my opinion. Puck movers are guys like Carle, Goligoski, Shattenkirk, etc etc. - jak521
I disagree completely. MacDonald has had a big impact on the Flyers break outs and puck movement since being acquired. He is adept at handling the puck under pressure, and buying time and space, and making quality puck moving plays to alleviate pressure and break the puck out.
Puck moving should not be confused with point producing. |

Nah. They won't do that. Hamonic is good. We sent you amac. He's not. |

I don't know why I find these comments so funny. But I do. It must have something to do with an Islander fan lecturing us about personnel moves. |

Good luck in the draft lottery tonight. Care to give us another player that sucks on your team (shocker), and plays well for us? |

To be fair, Capuano had literally no better options than Amac to play those minutes. Who else would he have played 27 minutes a night against Ovechkin and Crosby? Carkner? De Haan? He'd ruin De Haan's confidence and development completely exposing him to that. |

I didn't. That would be Capuano. I didn't want him as a 6 honestly. You probably know that you're on our thread often enough. |

Exactly -- if everybody on Long Island is so damn smart, how do they miss the playoffs year after year?

Spread the ice time out. Don't give a player that's playing terrible 27 minutes a night. Played terrible from the first shift on. Hard to watch. |

He can't play because even if he signed, he signed after the regular season. He's not playoff eligible, I don't think. |

No worries. Hamonic will be a solid 3/4 or the latter end of a first pairing for years to come. |

The underlying issue is the team's inability to draft and develop defenseman. It appears they're heading in the right direction, but they still need to overpay in order to bridge the gap.
Mac can really improve his overall play if he gets better in the neutral zone. The advanced stats show he's a good player in the offensive and defensive zone, but allows way too many easy entries into the zone. I feel this is an area he can improve because he's a good skater and has a good stick.
If he improves in that area, this deal turns into a great deal. If not, it's just fine. - PhillySportsGuy
What the advanced stats don't show, and can't show, is why a players numbers are why they are. And it showed in the very article that was posted. With the pictures that were given. When looking at them, it's clear why a defenseman stepped up in some cases, and why he didn't in others. But as usual, advnaced statistics are blindly used without context. Each play has to be looked at individually, to see if the player made the right read or not. Not just every play lumped into a barrel, and blindly look at the resulting stats. The more advnaced stats articles I read, the more I come to the conclusion that the authors know little about the game. |

HA! Yeah.
No need to be irritated by people who wish they had something to look forward to in two days, as opposed to folks who live and die waiting for Gary Bettman to say they're on the clock in late June.

Nope. Getting rid of AMAC for some decent picks and keeping him in our division was the first step in fixing our defense and helping our chances for the playoffs . |

I dont doubt that this is the impression Islanders fans have of him. He was playing way too many minutes against the toughest competition with weak assed team mates.
I guess being put in a position to succeed really does help, because he has not looked like that guy in the least playing the minutes he should be playing against the opposition he should be playing against. |
