No way should McGinn play. He doesnt offer much. If Berube scrathes Downie I'm good with Akeson playing based on his speed. Which we could use. Rinaldo will be back as well.
- GOA88

Akeson is actually a bit lacking in straight ahead speed. That combo with lack of size is why he was not originally drafted despite his puck skills.

Could Downie have been scratched because they didn't want to take any chances with that soft melon of his?

ecstatic they are back in the playoffs and looking forward to the rangers series, renewing a great old rivalry

was a bit surprised they sat Downie, thought he needed the work, unless he is not part of Berube's plan going forward

Hal Gill can still play, why was he used so sparingly?

Will enjoy rooting for CBJ and Detroit in their series

- Marc D

Hal Gill looked good in 2 games where he was a fresh and healthy as can be (and probably motivated, as his career is likely done) and everyone else was tired from the grind of 80+ games. Not sure he'd have been as amazing as everyone seems to think he was if he played more regularly.

Gill is nothing more than a decent insurance policy in case Schenn or Grossmann have to miss a game or two.

The entire "friend of mine" thing may not be BS, but it's not a reputable/regular source of Flyers info, so yeah, it's essentially BS right now.

You have confidence that Gill can play better in the playoffs than Gus based on the last 2 games in the season? Well, good for you, but I'd take Gus. I feel that Gill's lack of mobility would get exposed by the speedy wingers on NYR.

We just need to take one game at MSG to win the series. Luckily, they have the same fear as us. They struggle against us when we're home. If they were to win the series by only winning home games, then they'd do it in 7.
- JAKEw1234

Not really true. Our team for whatever reason is much better on the road than at home. So I am more than comfortable with them on the road.

While NYR is a better road team than home, the exact opposite holds true fro Philadelphia. And, each team's inability to win a game at the other's home arena, the series could swing on which team wins a road game first.

Guess who's the NHL's leading scorer over the past four seasons?

(hint: his middle name is Dari)

To be fair, it's only because Crosby missed so many games due to injury.

it is good for me - based on the last two games, he's been better than Gus - I'm not worried about his lack of mobility because all i want him to do is hit and clear the puck. Gus hasn't been consistent in doing that. he makes me nervous when he's battling in the corners and behind the net.

FWIW, Ovechkin did not become the first player to lead the league in goals and finish with the worst +/-. He was able to bring his +/- all the way up to -35, surpassing defensive specialist Steve Ott (-38) and the answer to Philly's blueline problems, Alex Edler (-39).

Well, if 2 games playing at full rest against players that have played 80+ games and who are more or less playing out the string makes you think he's ready for playoff action...well, I'm just gonna disagree.

One can only hope he's next, since the only place he can sign for the next 16 months in with Philadelphia.
