I know, I should GTFO and go back to my Penguins thread...but I should never feel unwelcome here.

Yes, to go play on the other side of the continent for a horrible (yet improving) team in a frozen tundra, all after stating that he'd prefer to stay close.

But, you know, since Ghost answered a question posed to him both fully and intelligently, while never staying a desire to play/not play here, it means he's going to jump ship and play somewhere else.

I think the moral of the story is a simple one! Schenectady > Boston.

For those asking, #Flyers own Gostisbehere's rights until Aug. 15 of next year, per Homer.

If Ghost uses "getting a degree" as an excuse, we know that he really as ulterior motives.

Yes, teams that draft college players hold their rights until August 15th after the player's fourth year. It's designed to stop a player for pulling a Justin Schultz, by making them wait until the end of UFA period.

Bottom line: Everyone calm down, the sky has not fallen.

Edit: Just because Gaudreau is taking extra years to get a degree does not mean that Gostisbehere has the same idea. It's very hard to go back.

Once we ice a roster that include Bobby Ryan, Johnny Gaudreau, Shayne Gostisbehere, Shea Weber, and Seth Jones, we can put a few things to rest.

I don't know if that makes me happy or sad. All I know is that he doesn't seem to have a case of the stupids like Downie, and any flaws of his will be a byproduct of lack of skill opposed to lack of discipline/will. I still say he didn't look strong enough in the corners for playoff hockey, but hey, he can't be much worse than Downie.

All of that being said, please keep in mind that it was a meaningless game versus Carolina, which is basically the exact opposite of a playoff game versus the Rangers.

The orange line is reporting that mason has a concussion, but it hasn't been stated by the flyers or their poopty beats yet. Who knows if this is truth, but if it is, well...wer're (frank)ing (frank)ed.

I don't know if I buy it. He looked just fine walking around yesterday, and usually when you have a concussion, standing upright is a challenge. Here's some of the text:

Despite no word from the organization, Steve Mason has a concussion. This has not been reported by the beat writers, nor confirmed or announced by the team, but I have it on good authority through friends/contacts I have made in my life that he suffered a concussion following his collision Saturday afternoon.

Unless one of his "friends/contacts" is a member of the Flyers' medical staff, I don't buy it 100%. I'm not saying it's not true, but this "unnamed source" stuff has got to go.

Could be true, but don't ruin your week stressing about it before Thursday -- they made the playoffs. It's all house money from here -- they're guaranteed four more games, and whatever happens after that, happens.

I think it says not so great things about organizational depth.

I think they have nothing to lose by keeping the guy around and maybe giving that 3rd line a different look.

I hear you, BUT we finally have a goalie we don't need to worry about. He's talented and has been consistent all season...and to think we might not have him at the exact worst time, getting stuck with emery and have to watch him get torched In front of an msg crowd...it's too much to bear.

He'll definitely stay up, as a Black Ace. I'd give Downie Game 1, but if his game goes south...well, welcome to the playoffs, Jason.

Because a guy who has a deficient overall game may be the best option for a playoff roster spot. The depth of the organization with respect to the AHL roster is very thin.
