No. I said the FANS would. The FANS threw batteries at JD Drew... Not the Players. I think the FANS would be furious with Ghost and it might get dangerous for him around the Philly area... Where are you getting this stuff?

haha, you're a (frank)ing dolt. I retract my apology. The "Philly flu" had nothing to do with the fans, it had to do with the fact that 18 men were going to try to murder you. I doubt any player is/has ever been scared going to a stadium of any sort.

Edit: You're as bad as the Philly media, taking what a select few douchebag Eagles/Phillies fans did decades ago and assuming it will happen to every player.

Well, if you want someone to run the goalie, we might as well play Downie
- PhillySportsGuy

In his defense, he never did touch Mason. He basically pulled a Thoresen.

How the hell are people getting this? He was asked a question, and answered it. He didn't say, "Well, I'm planning on waiting until the tail end of UFA period next season and signing with whoever will give me the most money (keeping in mind that $$ is capped at a relatively low number)." He was asked a question and answered it. OF COURSE it's in his head, as much as it is in every player's head. Let's worry about that if he's not signed this time next year.
- jmatchett383

I'll be a little nervous if he goes back to school. I don't see any reason for him to go back. I think once things calm down, he will realize it's time to move on.

It's really kinda sad that Tye McGinn is our best option moving forward, while Pittsburgh was able to call up Megna on a whim and get his level of play.
- jmatchett383

The positive I can say about McGinn is he usually doesn't take mindless penalties.

With Hartnell and Rinaldo in the lineup, playing Downie might as well have a revolving door to the sin bin.

I see 2 possible reasons:
1. Finish his 4-year degree.
2. Play college one more year since he never will be able to again.

He might really enjoy playing there, and knows that he'll never be able to again once he signs.

Ah man did anyone see that quote from Ghost in the union paper? Pretty much said the advantage of waiting out senior year was he could pick whatever team he wanted? The fact that thought is in his head cant feel too good with Homer or any fans.
- flyerfan28

I read it, but just don't have it in me to be scared/nervous about what a kid who is likely two years away from being able to be effective against the Rick Nashes of the world is going to do.

Chris Pryor's quote about Ghost was the best I saw about him, about how he excelled against his peer group.

But the people in the NHL aren't his peers, and while he has promise and in the big picture he is certainly a valuable asset, I won't even lie: I wouldn't lose a minute of sleep if Ghost was a piece moved in a deal to bring in a proven NHL defenseman who makes the Top 4 better next season, who is under 30 years of age.

I wouldn't lose a second of sleep, actually.

All it takes is 1-2 guys. And its not just Eagles or Phillies fans... As you pointed out earlier Flyers Fans boo'd Heeter.

You dont think Ghost would take immense heat if he choose not to sign with Philly and became a HOF player?

No crap...Well what I would have like to hear was Im looking forward to playing here or this is the place I want to be someday.... or anything relevant to the Flyers. All i heard was Im taking my time with family (which is fine). And then the last quote, to me by him saying he could wait it out means its at least something he considers.

Since when does booing a player translate into questioning a player's safety? That's a big jump. Will he take heat? Sure. Will his safety be in question? Doubtful at best.

But no one asked, "Where do you want to play." The question was about money, something similar to, "Do you think you could get the best deal now that you won the championship?" And he answered it honestly, about money. Like a well-informed player on his caliber should have. He stayed on the topic and answered it fully.

But yeah, more hits if you paint something controversial.

Why is this even a debate? The kid just won a national championship, let him bask in it for a week or so.

If no one jumped on the ice and tried to kill Scott Stevens, I think Ghost will be OK

Well, that's a very broad timeline, from not signing in Philly to the HoF. But no, I don't. I doubt the average fan is even aware of the kid.

I agree. That gif was meant for a str8 edge guy that is either PMSing or losing a lot of sleep because of the baby. Or just rolled out the wrong side of the bed.

I'm not going to freak out yet, because there is a lot of time for him to sign before next season. But if he does go back for another year, I will be worried, and by that point we wont be able to get much for him in trade.

Yah, it was a direct response to a question about leverage... he answered it intelligently, but people seem keen on reading way too much into the response.

After Justin Schultz, it seems that people assume that any half decent NCAA prospect is a flight risk, when those cases are actually extremely rare.

So, YOU'RE the guy who's going to shoot Shayne Gostisbehere when he may possibly not play for the Flyers based on the fact he didn't come out and say it's his dying wish to play for them. You scumbag.

More to the fact, Johnny Gaudreau came out and DID EXPLICITLY STATE that he'd prefer to play hockey closer to home. He just signed a deal with Clagry a few days ago.

Ghost comes out and doesn't explicitly state any desire to play/not play here, and answers a direct question, and people assume he's never going to play here.

It's just insane.
