From Newsday:
Cappy will be Back
Garth Snow gave his unequivocal support to coach Jack Capuano and the Islanders' coaching staff Monday, saying he "has no intentions of making a coaching change" for next season.

"Cappy will be back," Snow told Newsday after the first day of the organization's exit meetings and physicals following the end of the season on Sunday in Buffalo. "If we have an opportunity to add to our staff, the way we'd look to add a player, then we'll do that. But I don't expect to change the current staff."

Capuano, 47, just finished his fourth season behind the Islander bench, the longest tenure of any coach other than Al Arbour in the franchise's history. He has a 118-120-39 record since taking over for Scott Gordon 17 games into the 2010-11 season.

With the firing of the Predators' Barry Trotz on Monday, Capuano is now the seventh-longest tenured coach among the NHL's 30 coaches.

Plenty of Islanders players who were asked Monday stood by Capuano and assistants Doug Weight and Brent Thompson.

"You saw Cappy's system work extremely well at the end of the year," Kyle Okposo said. "We were outworking and outplaying teams that were ahead of us in the standings. We played within the framework of the team really well. For whatever reason, we got away from that early in the year and it cost us."

Exit interviews continue Tuesday and Wednesday, with the majority of the Islanders leaving town on Thursday. The team sent six players back to Bridgeport to play the final week of the season with the Sound Tigers: Forwards Mike Halmo, Brett Gallant, John Persson and Justin Johnson and defensemen Scott Mayfield and Matt Donovan.

What a disaster. I don’t even care if they fire Cappy 30+ games into another lost season now. Doug Weight (any doubt he’s the next coach?) won’t be any better. I’ll tune back in when this clown show is mercifully under new ownership. Wang and Snow are lost causes…smartest guys in a room full of stooges.

Isles record after 30 games was 8-17-5. They were already out of the playoff hunt by the beginning of December. Cappy should have been fired then. It's indescribably stupid to bring him back for another year.

I am not feeling bad for any fanbase that has John Tavares, and a slew of other young talent. They are going to be fine (irrespective of management), and I can honestly see them making the playoffs next year (although it will take a year to prove that I'm not completely bonkers).
- Pete V

An allstar roster will have a difficult time making the playoffs with him as coach. I know it's hard for outside fans to understand this but the team made the playoffs last year in spite of Capuano.

My guess is Cappy goes for even thicker rims on his glasses next season. Then he'll really look intelligent.

Garth Snow tells Newsday that John Tavares just sliced his own Achilles tendon "when he got wind of coach Capuano coming back." Story to come. #Isles

Unreal how you could get this same pic from ANY game we've played with him as our coach. Just another sad day to be an Islander fan. How anyone could possibly think Capuano is a good coach after repeatedly watching this same thing is beyond me? Snow is a facking moron.

I won't go to a game until Snow, Capuano, and the rest of these morons are gone. It won't mean much but it is what it is. Done with this team and it's bush league BS. Thompson and Capuano don't have enough gray matter between them to equal half a person.

That hair is going no where. He's got nothing to worry about. He can be as bad as a coach as he wants to be under our incompetent GM. What a joke this team is and continues to be under Snow.

That's not what's important. As Bulletproof Cappy says, all you can ask for is that they battle.

Jack Capuano is the 7th longest tenured NHL coach. He's bottom 5 in win % and his team has finished bottom 5 three out of his 4 years here.
