It's not that I don't believe you - it's that bring back this staff is so mind mindbogglingly stupid I can't wrap my head around it.

Garth Snow is a mind boggling kind of guy. Don't forget he knows better than everyone else.

So much for Staple thinking Cappy was out if the playoffs were missed.

That guy back peddles on his predictions fairly often. Proves he's not in on everything which is fine just pointing it out. Even though I've been saying it since December it's still tough to hear that he'll be our coach next yr. By the time he gets fired next yr will be a wash too. Snow could add a top 4 and a legit starter and this team is far from a lock with him as coach. The best we could hope for is the team to win in spite of Capuano which was the case last year.

I don't like the idea of Lee on the first line. I like the idea of the tight-wad owner and sleepy at the wheel GM going out and signing a legit veteran scoring LW to slot in there with JT and KO. Not PMB or Boyes, a real scoring threat. That allows Lee to play second line and provides the team with depth. There was nowhere near enough depth with this team this season.

Keep Strome, Nelson and Lee together. They work together. They can grow together. Let Frans center Grabs and either Clutterbuck or Bailey, if they are still here next year. Keep Cizikas with Martin and McDonald and Boulton as a spare. I could live with that group. You'll get the secondary scoring you never get from Grabs and Bailey from Nelson, Strome and Lee

This team needs veteran leadership at F,D positions that have a winning pedigree. They need that type of player who can get this team over the humps during the season. I may get criticized but Snow needs to see what type of return he can fetch for some players on roster, now I'm not saying trade for trade sake, I mean evaluate who stays and who goes and who's coming in.

Also does someone know what will happen to the cap if Viz retires and still has 1yr left on contract? I'm not quite sure if Isles are hit w/any cap with new rules in place.

That would mean Snow doing his due diligence/job. I haven't seen an example of that so I'm not expecting him to start now. Last off season is a good example of his lack of fore thought.

Exit interviews being conducted by Garth Snow, Jack Capuano and coaching staff... First indication that Capuano will be back next season.

Let's face it, bringing Snow back next year is pretty ridiculous. After that, Cappy coming back or anything else that's going to upset people around here shouldn't be a surprise.

Oh trust me, I agree that would be tough of a task for him. I understood the rebuild, but in the past 2-3 years watched him stay the course that did not benefit this team at all. Watched Snow hold onto players longer than he should and evaluate a players talent and try to reap the benefits of a players potential that was maximized. That's when I realized Wang is cheap & will hurt this team in long run, and Snow not creative enough to build a solid team w/restraints.

Fans shouldn't be surprised about this, if they understood how this management team operates. Only fans that really don't follow are surprised

I'm still holding out it until it is officially announced.

If Cappy is back the team will have the exact same issues they had this year. If Snow brings in a proven goalie they should win more games which will disguise the problems a little more. They will have a long losing streak before the end of December. If the streak is long enough Cappy will be let go and Weight will become the new coach. There will be a week or two when the team rallies, then it will be back to the same old stuff. They will be a bubble team at best even if a goalie and top 4 D-man are brought in. If those holes aren't addressed they will be bottom 5.

Snow will keep this year's pick even though he should give it to Buffalo. He can't give it up because he would in affect be saying they will suck next year too. If Cappy is back sucking is a forgone conclusion.

It's surprising because of how obvious it is. The team needs buzz heading into Brooklyn. They need to make a statement. Keeping Cappy is about as smart as this:

Sadly the possible sale allows for this lousy status quo. I'm hoping the team will be able to overcome a lousy Cappy. Should not come down to this. It's not surprising though.

This. I understand people being pissed if(foregone conclusion as far as I'm concerned but even I'll wait and see a bit) he keeps Capuano but anyone who is surprised by Snow making a stupid move like this needs to open their eyes. It's been going on for a long time now.

Oh they're making a statement. The same one Snow has been making since he took over. Glaring statement that he's a terrible GM. The only thing we can hope for is a new owner and hope he's smart enough(doesn't take much brains for this one)to shat can Snow and EVERYONE he hired.

Snow and Cappy better enjoy it now because once a new owner is found, the party is over and good luck to them hooking on with another team.

Have to love the new Sabres trolls. Not saying all Sabre fans are like some that have visited our threads lately but there are some stupid motherf@ckers from that fan base. I know there are some from every fan base but the guys that have visited our threads have been spouting some of the dumbest shat I've seen on hockeybuzz.

Ive seen that a lot recently also. As a whole (I'm sure they have some smart fans), I think they might be the dumbest fan base on this site. One of them truly thinks that we should trade JT and Okposo.

personally i'd like to see Lee with JT and KO....lee can do all the dirty work and clog up that crease.. I think it would work.

Me too Dan. Lee with JT and KO is a no brainer. Isles should forget signing medicore forwards. Put any money into a goalie and D.

we all know my opinion that the entire staff should be gone. with that being said if Capuano is kept on it is because Snow realized he failed the staff during last offseason. that's the only rational way I can possibly explain it. or the owner refuses to fire a coach before his contract is up...i'm not for one second condoning the decision just trying to rationalize it

I agree and we will get into that... I think Lee on the top line would work...I would like a second line forward but all resources need to be put into a goalie and defenseman first and then e can worry about tweaking the forwards

Rationalize away but there really is no way too. Wang would spend 7 million a year on Vanek. 10 million a year on Kovalchuck. 5.5 million a year on Errhoff. But won't spend maybe a million more on a legit coach? Nah, makes no sense.

You would really think Garth knows a new owner may be coming in and you would think he really wants to show something this offseason? He needs to think about life outside being the GM of the Isles.
