not able to watch how bad were the two goals
- LJF

First one, no chance Skinner was wide open and put it right under the cross bar. However, the second one was brutal, wrist shot from far out through the five hole.

I missed the first, but the second was pretty bad.

Art Ross Akeson, the People's Champion.

Not the fastest...not the biggest...not the strongest.

But that guy could probably help a team or two out there.

First one was a rocket by Skinner..
Second one, not so much a rocket by Staal.

And probably those three attributes is why they view Akeson as more of the Peter White role in the organization. A very good scoring forward in the NHL, but not much of an option for the NHL.

Poor cal. Not ready for the show here. Hopefully we can score 5 or 6 to help him out. Akeson is god .

Yeah, but he's no worse a skater than a guy like Ray Whitney -- that's who he reminds me of.

That kid just needs somebody to give him a chance to prove that he can't put up points -- it's just ridiculous, this league sometimes. Martin St. Louis, Theo Fleury...it's just so hard for smaller players to even get a shot, sometimes.

Who are going to be the 11th and 12th forwards when the playoffs start?

The candidates are;

1. Rinaldo: Coming off a 4 game suspension, a penalty waiting to be happen who can't be trusted.

2. Downie: A healthy scratch, coming off 3 concussions, zero discipline. Berube has shown zero trust in him.

3. McGinn: Has struggled mightily in his latest call up, doesn't appear to be an NHL player.

4. Rosehill: LOL

Wow, this Heeter is a sack of monkey poop. Good lord.

Well, he's definitely learning that there's a difference between seeing Kris Newbury on a top line in the AHL and Jeff Skinner and Eric Staal in the bigs

Maybe he gets another chance with another team someday. With Laughton coming out of junior next year, I think Akeson pretty much stays where he is at with the Flyers.

Absolutely -- he won't get it here, but I do hope the guy gets an opportunity somewhere. If he doesn't make it, he doesn't make it.

Also forgot Leier will probably be in the AHL next season. I just think if he was an above average skater his size wouldn't be held against him.

Absolutely -- I mean, sure. Physically, he looks totally average out there -- hell, he even looks average physically in the AHL. There doesn't seem to be anything about him physically that makes him look like an NHL player.

But he clearly has the vision, hands and instincts of a point producer. And he's not scared to go get the puck.

Like you said, maybe he'll find a way to make it. It's up to him to keep working.

I do think it's great that Gus has been able to play multiple games in a row, and even Gill. It's helpful to know that in case of injury, at least these guys have been able to see some game action in recent weeks.

Maybe Akeson won't make it - but I don't understand why he does not get the chance. Its not that the cupboard is brimming over. I don't understand why McGinn is a better option on the 2nd line. Maybe on the 3rd and 4rth, but he seems like a north-south trundler to me. We desperately need playmakers on the 2nd line.

Same with Gus. If he was 40lbs heavier and played exactly the same game, I am sure he would have gotten a lot more patience from management.
