Is there any real threat of SG not signing? Folks seem to be worried around here. - hammarby31
I don't think there's any reason to worry unless he absolutely doesn't want to be here. He will get the max ELC. |

I would hope so, won a championship here seemed to have a good relationship here as well. From what i gather he was on the fence on turning pro or going back, Flyers have his rights til next June 2015. The only player in recent memory to refuse to sign with the team that drafted him was Schultz I believe. For whatever reason didnt like Anaheim and was set on playing in Edmonton and that move really paid off for him |

Plus, any minute now Holmgren will be sitting the kid down, with Dave Brown standing next to him and saying "look kid, either your brains or signature is going to be on that contract"

Am I crazy but did Hal Gill looked good yesterday. It was good to see an actual physical presence on D. Luke seems to be playing very passive and he makes horrible puck decisions. |

Is ghost's "deadline" this June or whatever? - Giroux_Is_God
No. The old rule was June after his 4th year (Justin Schultz). It's now August 15th after your 4th year. It "hurts" the player by having to come on at the end of FA. |

They definitely are inconsistent in that department.
Angry Coburn, Grossmann and Luke Schenn all can provide that, hopefully they amp it up come playoff time. |

I do think Playoff Coburn has been with us for the last few games.
I love me some Playoff Coburn |

You're not crazy. He looked good. They should have used him more. I feel comfortable knowing he's there if needed in the playoffs. |

Agreed
He is a smart, saavy vet and a good back up to Grossmann |

Not to be a debbie downer, but...given his play over his last 2 starts, I'm not really cool if we have to hand the reigns over to Emery at any point. He's just so damn slow. |

He played almost as well as Tye McGinn did when he was called up the first time. |

True, if they have any chance against anyone in the playoffs, Mason needs to be healthy and bring his "A" game. |

I think there will be better options for back up this offseason.
How do you guys think that Mason will do in the postseason? Except for that one year in Columbus he really hasn't been tested. He also didn't do to great that year but he was playing on Columbus |

Not only that, but the played against the buzzsaw that was Detroit. That team had zero chance.
For the Flyers to really doing anything, starting with having a shot at winning this round, I see 4 main things needing to happen, barring something unforseen:
1. Giroux must play like the 11/12 first round Giroux, or close to it, on a constant basis
2. Mason must outplay Lundqvist more often than not.
3. 18 skaters must play as a team and support the puck.
4. The shorthanded unit must be limited. If you take a penalty, try to take someone with you. |

I think that if Giroux is the best player in this series (and he can and should be), that Mason only needs to equal the play of Lundqvist, rather than outplay him.
I would also add to your list:
5. Score first. The Rangers are much better at playing with a lead than they are at coming from behind.

Those are the exact plays she's referring...I assume. Melrose was all giddy because they worked, but I was cringing during them. - hammarby31

I'm not worried. I just supposed that since they won, he'd want to go back to be lauded. Once BC lost, Gaudreau had no reason not to sign. They lost, so he was off to something fun. |

That kind of stuff doesn't worry me. I think Ghost is going need and get a little time in the AHL before he plays with the big boys and Terry Murray or whomever is coaching the Phantoms next year will clean that stuff up.
All in all, if he can add 10 lbs or so of muscle and get to 180 without losing any speed, I think he has potential to be at least a sold 2nd pair guy who can QB the #1 pp unit. If you can get that from a 3rd round pick, you hit a homerun!

I agree with all of these. I would elaborate on 3. adding that the forwards need to good team defense especially. Having Mason play on Lundqvist's level is gonna be hard, but I think he can for a few games possibly.
Does anyone know how the Giroux line has done against the Rangers this year?
