wtf kind of rule is that

why punish a team for picking a late gem

Its the same reason Philly people are hoping Gaudreau returns for his senior year.

Gostisbehere is wonderful (and I know you guys won't ever spell it right, but I sure hope Lou Nolan practices pronouncing it, because he wasn't close most of the night last night and got worse as he went along). BUT. He's an undersized college kid. He may develop into a Kimmo type defender in the NHL. And he has great speed and a crackerjack shot. But he did things even in the two games I saw that were high-risk plays you won't get away with in the NHL on a regular basis. LOVE him. Don't think he'd walk right in and "make an impact" or make any top-4 defender "expendable" immediately. Which is not to say I don't think he'll sign as soon as the celebration wanes.

that ill-advised pinch when he saved the 2 on 0 breakaway was one i saw and the 'windshield wiper' sweep check that lead to an assist on the 6th goal....but he was feeling it, it think....instincts are such a part of hockey (and that position) it was nice to see a guy that was clearly in a zone and rolling with it.

probably more about protecting players from languishing around if the team that drafted them wants to play it cheap and not work to sign a guy?

Ghost doesn't have to sign today or play for the Phantoms or Flyers next year, for my money. But in some ways, I feel bad for the kid -- I understand why he would want to go back, but it's sad that he is going to learn a life lesson: Sometimes, there is no going back, because it won't ever be better than it was last night.

The challenge for any person is to know when to leave what you know and take on a new role in a new place. And it's tough when you are on top of the world.

But sometimes, that's when you need to leave the most, because it won't ever be the same, no matter how much you want it to be.

Well Folin's situation was a little different. He was undrafted so any and all NHL teams had the right to extend an ELC to him.

Ghost was drafted, so the Flyers have exclusive negotiating rights for what I think is 3 seasons after his drafting. If no contract is signed after that, then all teams have negotiation rights, similar to what we may see with Gaudreau

Such BS. He'd better sign. He's maxed out his potential at the college level anyway.

Those are the exact plays she's referring...I assume. Melrose was all giddy because they worked, but I was cringing during them.

the rule they need to change is the ahl 19 yo rule.....guys like laughton would develop more in the ahl than playing in junior

Is there any real threat of SG not signing? Folks seem to be worried around here.

i thought that too, but i think on the 2 on 0 he was actually pointing out that if he didn't get the puck it was a disaster.....he commented that the coach would be telling him on the bench to settle down after that one.

my level of concern is just that this is here and poop don't always work out like a swiss watch.....e.g. i didn't see henrik lundqvist get plowed over and injured in any recent games.....just sayin'

Well he can come here and likely not see much ice time this playoffs. Or he can get a degree and take the best offer/best fit available...
