does Hartnell face a suspension for that spear?

stupid play.

- FlyerGuy

I didn't see the game except for the OT/SO. What happened?

about 5 or 6 minutes left in the 3rd Hartnell clearly speared some guy. He was tossed from the game .. but somehow the Flyers ended up with a PP.

You can get suspended for spearing now?

Edit: if he got tossed, that should be the end of it in any case.

Winning game # 1 would be the most ideal. Breaks the losing streak at MSG, and gives them confidence for the series.

Losing game 1, and the season is on the line in game 2.

- PLindbergh31

Even if they lose both games at MSG, the series is not over. Certainly a daunting task, but win both games at home, and it's all even.

Agreed -- the Rags are good, too. Wouldn't be ideal to drop both at MSG

I don't really put much stock into losing streaks like the one the Flyers have there -- I mean, really. Were any of those games back-to-backs for the Flyers when the Rags were rested, or 3-in-4s? Were there injuries? Were they slumping overall?

I'm not saying it's irrelevant, at all. I'm just saying that come Thursday, what happened on some December night in 2012 isn't going to factor into the outcome now.

It is amazing sometimes when we spend so much time thinking about things we have no control of.

- PLindbergh31

And it's also amazing that there is so much negative thought. Both now and during the Season. Flyers are in the playoffs! The series hasn't even started. Life is good. Enjoy the ride!

A bone headed move by Hartnell to start it all ending with his 2nd dumb move with the spear.

Wasn't announced as a match penalty though

Believe you can but it wasn't called a match penalty so that may change it.

We're fine. I'm watching games at my friend's apartment in Greenpoint. He was raised in Brooklyn. Die hard Flyers fan.

I agree. I will be shocked if gets a suspension from that.

Also watching the replay you can see Hartnell drop the stick/lose grip to vastly reduce the actual force of the spear. Either way. What the frank is he thinking. Intent is there.

Hartsy should die his hair black for the playoffs. I don't want #hartnelldown, I'd rather #hartnelldeathincarnate

I just want to point out what a strong regular Season Mark Streit had for the Flyers. Had another 2 assists today, finished with 44 points and in the top 20 in scoring among all NHL defenseman. And that's without being a regular on the top PP unit. He was much maligned and written off as a bad signing by a few before the Season was very old. Well it turns out the GM got another one right.

MSG has concert 18th. But that doesn't explain why not Thurs/Sat. But at least it means no home game Easter at noon. Because when you have a 91-year-old dad, you don't skip family holiday events, even if it's the playoffs. And Dad is a brunch holiday guy.

Supposedly Berube is considering using him in the playoffs. Maybe by default. Rinaldo, McGinn, Downie, and Rosehill don't deserve to dress in the playoffs imo.

Yup, they don't. Well, I'd be OK with McGinn-Vinny-Hall as the 4th line.

He certainly changed my mind, and I was fairly cold on that signing.

I would lean towards McGinn as well. Main reason being he doesn't seem to take bad penalties.
