I think you need to add three more in light of all of the regression and injuries: John Tortorella's systems. - MaximumBone
We were 8th best last year, just hard to wrap my head around such a rapid decline...across the board the whole team has stunk it up. |

He's not the reason for the decline, it was happening before he came, he just accelerated it to light speed. Even so, it's still Gillis/FA's fault for hiring him (whoever made the ultimate decision) in the first place or for not changing the team's makeup for it to be able to play that style effectively whether or not you like it.

Ahem... Trevor Linden? - DariusKnight
Speaking of I said I was gonna wait to make my opinion on the Trevor Linden move but I have to say this guy knows his stuff he is very well spoken and yet not afraid to speak what is on his mind. Student and teacher of the game. I am very comfortable right now. He is gonna do very well a President of the Canucks. Good move. I don't believe this is just a PR stunt. Smartest thing FA has done with this team. Looking forward to see what he does. I think we all have an idea of who he wants as GM. He is being quiet about it but I have a feeling he knows who he wants but may not get them. |

Fair enough. There are similar issues in Edmonton with Eakins and his systems. |

I agree, I just think that even with a great GM hire, it's still going to take 3-5 years if not longer to get back to being a contender and I worry with how impatient and fickle our fans are that he might not get that long. He has so much to fix in a short time that I'm not sure even Ken Holland could do it. |

When a team has been playing the same system since 2007 and you throw in a Torts system players buy in at first but if they don't see progress short term some of them stop buying in. Especially when your best players stop scoring goals. Players don't buy into a system unless your best players are still your best players. The Sedins are not done they just aren't Torts system guys. The right coach they will be back to form. Dan and Henrik are the hardest working guys on this team. If they aren't getting points something is wrong with coaching. |

I do not disagree... but he doesnt look as bad as this team makes him look. Since Lu was traded.. we have had the worst save percentage in the entire league with Markstrom playing like one game. I don't think either goalie is a true starting goaltender. At this current moment at least.
This team has a lot of areas that need attention |

I didn't see this big "decline" which some of you speak of; were their numbers down last year, speaking of the core players here. Only Daniel could be argued had his goal numbers dip, everyone else looked to be normal?
When you're talking about Hank and Dany you can expect them to score 100+ points like their peak years! Career average is 70-80, which is what people should expect. |

Normally I'd agree, but Daniel has been declining rapidly even before this year most likely due to the Keith elbow and Henrik now has had 2 major injuries and all those years of being the NHL iron man might be catching up to him. They might not be done but I think the time of them being PPG players is over and it's time to shelter them and slowly work them out of being the faces of the franchise until they retire. |

Henrik now has had 2 major injuries this season, and it looks like those years of never taking a game off or so to rest up might be catching up to him. Daniel has been declining ever since the Keith elbow. I don't think it's unfair to say that at their age (34 at the start of next season) that they might not make it to their career average anymore although not to this year's career low. |

Henrik had a great year last year (45pts in 48gms), he was also on a 70+ point pace up until the end of December this year. I'm not buyin the decline BS with him. Daniel, ok I can see it, but even he had 40 points in 47 games last year, that's a 70 plus point year = slightly below career average.
Burrows also had a "normal" year last year, on pace for another 20 plus goal year. |

Yeah but he probably wouldn't come here. I do think he would thrive in a hockey hotbed though. |
