Rupp got 4 games

Pathetic, should be a 8-10 game ban.

Good article by Brooks today too about Mac being targeted hard in the playoffs, legally or illegally he's gonna get hit at every turn. Gotta respond with the eye for an eye justice or score on the PP every time a rough or late hit is doled out.

I don't even think it matters, he is irrelevant anyway. I think it was Rupp's first game in 2 months as it is.

This was a case of a guy who shouldn't even be in the NHL anymore targeting an important NHL player

Not saying plays like that are only for the the bums of the NHL, but you see it a lot more from the Rinaldo's, Rupp's Kaleta's etc. These guys all suck at the pure sport of hockey. They'll do anything to gain advantage.

I just wanted to say that, as a person, Mike Rupp is one of my favorite hockey players. Met him before opening game last season, one of the few guys to not only stop and sign autographs but also chat with the fans. Was very sincere as well.

Tie Domi seemed like a great guy too, but it doesn't take away the reckless plays he made while playing. 4 games was not nearly enough here.

This is Rupp's first suspension. Not like he has a history of dirty hits. I would say 1 suspension in over 600 NHL games as a goon is pretty darn clean. Obviously this hit was bad, and deserved suspension, but I wouldn't group the guy with Rinaldo and Kaleta

I saw some Wild fans trying to claim there was no intent, if there wasn't intent Oshie wouldn't have been face down on the ice

I just don't get the fans who feel the need to defend they're guy NO MATTER how blatant an offense by they're guy is.

I see he didn't play from February 1st, until last night. Was he hurt or a healthy scratch that whole time anybody know?

All you got to do is put it on the other shoe. If that was Parise who got hit, I gaurantee they would all be singing a different tune

A joke, should have been suspended the whole first round of the playoffs at a minimum

Regardless of the injury, he was going to be targeted. Rangers did same to Mike a green, which is why they beat Washington, so targeting the team's best d-man makes sense. New York needs to give Mac a ton of padding there to protect the shoulder.

Nobody did here, just saying he deserves way more than 4 games, you disagree?

Or give McDonagh whatever scent Stepan has...Kreider will come out of the woods and destroy them

I thought someone did earlier in the thread.

I don't disagree with that. I disagree with a bashing of Mike Rupp's overall reputation. I think we are on the same page.

Edit: But do you think it is worse than the Rinaldo hit? Based on precedent, I think it is at least consistent with the most recent suspension.

It's close, both were bad. I thought Rinaldo should have gotten more games too.

I agree, would rather play Philly in the 1st Round. Bob is not a goalie I wanna face with a roster that is still sometimes iffy on sustained offensive chances. Philly's goaltending has always been suspect and we tend to show up more for rivalries. Great way to get our offense rolling for the playoff grind. Also, Philly will be a physical physical battle and the Rangers being a team that does lack in size, I would rather play them when we are freshest than potentially playing them later when we already have bruises.

Yeah I agree. I think in general the NHL needs to hand down longer suspensions for this kind of stuff. There was only one double digit suspension for a headshot this season, and it was that dirtbag Kaleta. Whatever the formula is for these decisions, I think it needs a x2 multiplier.

The way Kreider defends Stepan I wouldn't be shocked to hear they are a couple.

I don't know about that, from what I can tell it is McDonagh and Stepan who have the Bromance. Not sure what exactly goes on over there at Wisconsin....
