It's boring for sure. But really, may be most effective. I don't think anyone around the league looks at this roster and say "boy, they have some work to do". Loosing sucks and we all want to get better quickly. However, I think this group can improve amongst themselves. A summer free of ownership headaches (lets cross our fingers on that one) would go a long way. With this said, there isn't any reason we can't sign a player or two that would help our depth. Similar to what you alluded to in a 2nd line guy and a middle of the pack d-man. All we need is a little tinkering and bounce back seasons. We don't have to blow everything up.

Agree with all of this. I think the team is a veteran d-man away from the post-season (assuming some individual performances from the youngsters improve next season).

I'm in violent agreement re: the ownership stuff. A good offseason is one in which we never hear a peep from or about Melnyk.

Anyone consider that maybe Murray has had some talks with his star players about Maclean? I'm thinking a bit about the Rangers last year and the decision to get rid of Tortorella.
Maybe Bobby Ryan is upset at his minutes not to mention just about every other forward not named Neil, Smith or Greening. I don't know, but if I wanted to make sure that Ryan, Spezza, Macarthur, and now Hemsky want to sign here I would want to make sure that they are happy with their usage.
These stories don't just come out of nowhere, there's usually some reason behind them.

I would imagine that he hawill have chats with the vets...... but we now know that Ryan's minutes diminished because he was injured.

I was pretty certain that the Melnyk ownership problem was going to be resolved last summer. I was surprised when it was not.

Today I drove by Landsdowne for the first time in a year and was astounded by the progress being made on the renovation by the Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group. These guys have huge money, they are big hitters and they are making massive investment in relation to a junior hockey team and a CFL franchise.

Nothing about Melnyk and his ownership makes any sense, anymore. On the other hand, they have 800 construction and trade workers going full time at Landsdowne. The Ottawa economy is robust and bouncing right along. Yet we are saddled with a deadbeat owner. Most discouraging.

Big difference is NHL salaries compared to football, junior hockey, and hockey which OSEG is in charge of. Easy to make a buck. Landsdown was due for a make over for awhile now. Great to see. I fully intend to go to a couple of Red Blacks games even though it's the worst team name in history.

I don't think they have huge money .... enough to 'comfortably' run a CFL franchise and and CHL franchise, but comparing those to that of the NHL is apples and organges

You are correct. They keep putting the word "red" in the colour red then the word "black" in black, so my brain thinks it's two words. Come on!

TWO PACKS?! Jesus, I partake in 8-10 darts daily, but two packs is ridiculous. That's like 3 an hour!

As boring as it may be for boards such as this, I would agree that what you see is what yer gonna get next year for this team - including the coach.

If Mikaulic is not signed (I still beleive he will be), Murray is great at picking up those 2nd tier guys - like MacArthur....

I'd love it if he would get a #2/3 defenseman, but it look like he really believes in his core group and is willing to wait to have one them reach that potential.

BORING but most likley prudent.....

None taken.

But a lot of people have, I guess independently, told me similar things the last two days. Garrioch's story would kind of be the cherry on top, I guess.

Will be a fascinating few weeks ...

yeah, i'd rather be fascinated by playoff games instead of wondering which one of the morons or sh1tty players in our respective organizations is going to be sent packing.

Not sure why Zibby has played almost 3 minutes less than any other player on the Sens roster up until this point tonight

If MacLean goes and Spezza stays - it is going to be extremely difficult supporting this team and/or having any faith in the current management group.
- ingersollnacho

What? Spezza will obviously stay. He's the best forward on the team hands down. Was Getzlaf great during his first year of captaincy? No... he was woeful. Give Spezza and McLean one more year each and reassess.
