Clearly Therien is scapegoating LSchenn.
Downie has been tremendous in his return to the lineup. Hasn't skipped a beat.
I was reading the AVs thread yesterday and they were shredding GM Greg Sherman for trading him.

I don't think he is scapegoating Schenn. I don't think he had a great game.

What about not having Patrick Sharpe? Boy he could've made a difference.

Well you hope the goaltender can do that. But those types of plays can't happen.
- MJL

I mean they shouldnt happen as often but those issues that wound up hurting us last night..... Emery should have stopped those pucks. He was the difference in that game. TB had no business winning that game. 50% of the game was in the Lightning zone and 25% of it was in the neutral zone.

I think Emery could've been better and made a few saves. But I'm not going to say he cost them the game. Too many other mistakes happened.

I wish we had him too, but he is completely different now than when we had him. He is also much faster now.

All I'm saying is..... Mason would have atleast got us to OT last night. Thats good against a great home team like TB

Honestly

Scale of 1-10

Who is worried about the 1st rd?

I'm at 4, based on our struggles at MSG, IF we play Pitt I'm at 0

Agreed

The Flyers controlled most of the game, but 2 things really cost them.

1. You gotta finish: Getting all those chances is great, but you got put the damn puck in. Too many shots wide of the net, too many good shooting opportunities given up by over passing and too many shots right into the goalies breadbasket. There are players on this team, mainly Giroux, Voracek and Couturier, who need to be a bit more selfish and take more shots.

2. Huge mistakes: Jeez, when these guys do make a mistake, they are usually fatal. Horrific cross ice passes just inside both blue lines coupled with a few glaring blown coverages will often lead to losses. If they can't clean these things up, it won't matter who they face in round one or who is in net, they will be one and done.

Boston: 9.5
Rangers: 7
Penguins: 5

The Bruins are the best and deepest team in the conference and perhaps in the league. Even if the Flyers play their very best game each and every night, they aren't good enough to beat Boston in a 7 game series.

The Rangers obviously have been owning the Flyers at MSG and facing a goalie like Hank is no picnic. However, if the Flyers can find a way to win game 1, the pressure on the Rangers would be enormous.

The Pens are a mystery. How healthy will they be? Will MAF shine or implode? Are the Flyers in their heads? Of the three, they would be the one I'd most want in the first round, but don't kid yourselves, that series will be a nasty, vicious war.

i wanted to scream.....15-20 chancesfor the flyers and nothing.....one rush up ice for them....goal. 5 more minutes of pressure for the flyers and 6-8 more great chances: nothing......one rush up ice for them: another goal

It would absolutely be a war. I am confident in the Flyers winning in 5 this time though. No Bryz this time.

I guess Berube wants Mason well rested for the playoffs. TB started a goaltender with one of the worst save %'s in the NHL last night.

Losing 7 games in a row against teams that have qualified for the playoffs is a disturbing trend.

It is, and its frustrating but I think they hit a small rut and have had some bad luck. Posts, defelctions and what not.

The flyers just had a busy stretch against the league's best and started out great. I think it's safe to say they are hitting a wall a bit here playing every other night against top teams.

They clinched a playoff spot on Tuesday. People were female dogin that thy were so bad and to blow it up and now that they are in the playoffs the problem is they have struggled lately against great teams, LOL

I'm just glad to be back in the playoffs. I'd like to see them finish the weekend strong and get ready for the playoffs.

Yeah. There definitely has been some of that. If they lose to Pittsburgh this weekend, more than likely they will be starting the playoffs in Boston.

Yeah it is. The Flyers are, IMO, a slightly above average team. Sadly, slightly above average teams don't win cups.

I thought they were a horrible team on an epic collapse limping into a first round slaughter at the hands of the rangers or bruins

No they don't. I don't think anyone thought this team as currently constructed was a Cup contender though. After the terrible start most thought they weren't a playoff team. I'm still looking forward to watching the playoffs. If the Flyers bring their A game they can compete with Boston and the Rangers. All that would have to happen would be for the Flyers to win one of the first two games, and everyone would be all pumped up.

You just know that Tampa and Lindback probably have a letdown tonight and lose to Columbus and that Detroit beats Carolina.

Looks like 2 very important games for the Flyers this weekend.

Oh well, imagine how Blues fans are feeling this morning. St. Louis is now in 2nd in the Central and the Avs control their own fate. Can't you just see Chicago, with a fresh rested Toews, knocking the Blue out in the first round?
