Don't forget Giroux's KO of the most overrated player in the NHL Bergeron in 2011.
- PLindbergh31

Bergeron is far from overrated.. That man deserves every single compliment he's been given.

I think offensively they're about the same.

Defensively they are worse.

Goaltending so much better.

They are in, let's just see what happens and enjoy the ride.

I'd disagree that they are worse defensively. They are missing Pronger, but as a whole, they are a better defensive team now then they were in 2010.

I don't know about you guys but I feel a hell of a lot more comfortable with a 3rd pairing of Schenn-Mac/Gus than I do Krajicek-Parent/Bartulis.

They're a flawed team, but so are most of the other Eastern teams. It's time to enjoy the ride. They battled back from a horrendous start and made the dance. Now they need to Jitterbug until they run out of money for the Juke Box
- Jsaquella

i think we see what will keep them from contending, at least this year. they have played great against some tough teams but have found ways to lose games where they had the better of the play ('first' boston game SO loss, st louis 0-0 game, tonight). if they had found a way to win i'd be more optimistic not to mention they likely would have had home ice in rd 1.....

From what I saw.. I am not upset with the Flyers play at all. The Lightning are a much faster team and the Flyers dominated 75% of that game. Lindback got some lucky breaks and Emery let in at least 3 stoppable goals. In a 7 game series I think the Flyers would wear them down and win. Im not worried and plus Mason is our goalie come playoff time.

It makes it easier when you can outskate a team, instead of having to continuously win board battles to move up the ice or get chances.

There is no such thing as a game that doesn't come down to board battles, especially once the playoffs start.

Devils lost their 16th consecutive shootout tonight.

If they lose their next 32 shootouts, Flyers will have a better shootout win %

If only we hadn't trade Patrick Sharpe.

Bundy was killing Schenn during the first period over his turnovers.

Ok folks, lets all climb off the bridge. When it comes to avoiding Boston in the first round, the Flyers still completely control their own destiny. Win both games this weekend in regulation and they open in New York no matter what Columbus or Detroit does.

As much as the Flyers have struggled at MSG, don't kid yourselves, the pressure will be on the Rags. If the Rangers were to lose game one, that pressure then becomes enormous.

So lets beat the Pens on Saturday, with Pittsburgh having back to back this weekend and locked into their spot, they will likely be resting some guys both games. Then lets beat an eliminated Carolina who may be thinking more about tee times on Sunday.

GO FLYERS!

That pair did not have a good game. Hopefully you won't be seeing them together in the playoffs.

I can only recall one turnover by Schenn in the first. The entire team was turning the puck over. When this team loses, it's usually for the same reasons. Blown coverages, turnovers, and inconsistent play. Downie makes a bad cross ice pass leading a turnover and a goal. Downie loses his point man. Lecavalier blows a coverage. And that's the game.

Agreed, the tougher team would prevail. Run and Gun does not work in the playoffs.

Nope, there are certainly outliers, such as a Flyers-Pens series. But it's normally a fight for every inch of ice.

But it sounds like you are asking them to play perfect. Turnovers and blown coverages happen, that does not mean it should end up in the back of the net. The goaltender has to make that stop more often than not.

Clearly Therien is scapegoating LSchenn.
Downie has been tremendous in his return to the lineup. Hasn't skipped a beat.
I was reading the AVs thread yesterday and they were shredding GM Greg Sherman for trading him.

Well you hope the goaltender can do that. But those types of plays can't happen.
