FTFY.

I found it amusing that Bryz ate all 3 Boston players in the shootout for dinner last night.

At the beginning of season I picked St Louis vs Boston final with the Blues winning in 6. Got 5 whole dollars riding on it.

Well give me some facts that support your opinion?

What kind of player Lecavalier still is when healthy and playing the right position is obvious.

- MJL

Here's a stat for you......If healthy for an 82 games schedule Vinny is on pace for 46 points.....I would think even you have to agree that 66 games and has 37 points is a solid # pace indicator.....he is better at C for sure...but he is what he is....stop cherry picking solid stretches while discounting his struggles.

I thought the 2nd line showed some signs of life last night. If they can get it going, that would be huge. But if they can't, best way to get it going, would be to put Lecavalier back at 2nd line Center.

Not much chemistry in that group.

For sure....but at his age and his mileage is that a realistic expectation ? I hope they find someone that can play with him .....

I have never discounted his struggles. In fact I've discussed his struggles many times. The above misses the point badly. The entire point is that the cause of his struggles were the injury, and playing out of position. And not that he wasn't a good player any more. And it's plainly clear that when healthy, and playing at center, Lecavalier is still a pretty good player.
It's simply comparing his production when healthy, versus not healthy. And when playing out of postion at LW, versus playing at Center.

So to close, saying that I've "cherry picked" solid stretches, while ignoring his struggles is simply false. Because if I did that, I couldn't make my point. His struggles are part of the equation.

They certainly lacked chemistry with Lecavalier at LW. But they played well together in the beginning of the Season with Lecavalier at Center.

Yes it is realistic. Players in this League remain productive well into their 30's.

Exactly......"his struggles are a part of the equation". To ignore them is not giving a true indicator of the player.....every player has challenges....injuries.....stretches where by they don't play well or are asked to do things that they aren't used to doing.
That's life in the NHL.
And seriously if a player is healthy enough to play there is no excuses....

I expected 25 goals over an 82 game season. He has pretty much exceeded that expectation when you factor in the games he missed due to a broken back and that facial injury.

Is it the same for a player that hasn't stayed healthy for 4 straight years now ? Probably not.

Doesn't change that I have not ignored his struggles. I've just looked deeper as to why he struggled. And it's obvious why. It was the injury and the position change. And it's not about excuses, it's simply about reality. In the same way that Giroux's hand injury before the Season started, obviously affected his play in the beginning of the year.

Durability is another issue. But then you have to look at the specific injuries that caused him to miss those games. But that doesn't change the fact that when Lecavalier is healthy, he is a good player still.

He's been what I thought he'd be....the same guy he's been the last 4 years....some growing pains with a new team....but for the most part exactly what I expected.
