When you say his detractors simply had it wrong, be sure to lump in Berube for playing him out of position for half a season, and the Flyers crack medical staff for allowing him to play with what was diagnosed as back spasms, when it was a fracture.

- PLindbergh31

Just because Berube played him at LW doesn't make him a detractor. In fact Berube was asked about Lecavalier recently, and he said to paraphrase, that he never thought he wasn't a big part of the team. So labeling Berube a Lecavalier detractor, is false.
I don't have any factual information to his diagnosis, nor am I a Doctor who could speak to any medical malpractice in that situation. If you have that expertise, or information, feel free to share it.

I doubt the injury the had much to do with it. He sat for over 3 weeks during the Olympic break to return to play. He never officially said that he was dealing with an injury.
- FlyersSteve118

Lecavalier suffered a back fracture this season. That's a fact. And it was obvious it affected his play this Season.

After the Olympic break there is no way he could have still been dealing with that injury.

...Is it safe to come out? The Vinny debate has been put to bed?

Even though I think this argument is extremely played out. I will comment that this particular post is patently ridiculous.

"I can't argue about this any more" translates as, hmmm, what is the next way I can argue about this. So no, I'm sure it will not be put to rest until Vinny is in Grant's tomb.

Why is that? I think it was obvious that as the Season went along, he was getting stronger and stronger on his skates. And a clear difference could be seen in his play.

Someone else will take up the argument. I personally just ignore MJL's (some of) points on Vinny because I know neither of us will agree and its not worth my time arguing with a brick wall

Good. I think the Vinny debate has surpassed the Grossmann debate levels. New Topic?

How about debating the shootout and alternate ideas for the umpteenth time?

An injury so severe that he is capable of playing hockey through? Ok. Your post is "patently ridiculous". Which makes absolutely no sense. Btw.

I was just saying that I thought the position he was playing was the main reason for his slump. I wasn't really trying to argue anything.

Meh. Most of the people who were against Streit agree that he has played well even if his contract is a little long. Though at the beginning of the season that was a good one.

Oh I know... We could always argue Politics?

That has been debated too much, but the reason it hasnt reached Vinny/Grossmann levels is that everyone here hates the shootout so there is no opposition to argue with. Its just people saying they dislike it, that it should be changed, and throwing out an idea. No controversy.

Streit has played better than I was expecting. He's done some nice things. Closing in on 40 points. I think if he would have got more PP time with the first unit, his point total would be near 50. In today's NHL 50 points for a dman is a big offensive season.

I still get nervous with him in the defensive zone, but he's played well for the most part.

CBJ @ Boston
Detroit @ Pitt

Flyers haven't received goal scoring from their defense in a while. Although that Mark Streit pass last night almost makes up for it.

I think the Flyers have 31 goals from their defense core. I think that is somewhere in the top half of teams in the NHL.
