Exactly. So why trade one that is 23 (with better stats at the same age) for essential the same guy 3 years older with a higher cap hit??

Does not improve the team

- burn

the only sensible reason is "because" or Howard Berger "said so".

either of reasons explain the Harald Ballard approach to personnel management.

Exactly, it worked for the Blues, they only waited another 5 years after the Leafs gave up on Steen for him to score more than 24 goals.

The Saviour has come.

In 5 years

- bixll

Not sure what you're trying to say, you should see the difference in the Blues record with Steen in the lineup and out of it. The Blues have loved Steen for a long time. He's very similar to his pops.

completely different players. But im sure you've seen him play to know that.

My whole basis is we need to improve the defensive hockey on this team. But i guess we don't.

- clark_griswold

Love it. Yeah I have no idea who he is. Never seen him play. Never heard of him.

Yes we need to fix the defensive play of this team, but it's absolutely asinine to think that a 23 yr old cannot improve in that area..... not to mention fixing the system.

Almost identical. Traded a younger guy for an older guy that had done what they wanted Steen to do. As it turns out Steen has been the better player from the moment that trade was made. Stempniak may not be in the league next year, and Steen is well...

(frank) Stempniak. I picked him up in my fantasy league because he was playing with CROSBY. What does he do on Crosbys wing? SUCK Richard and put up pedestrian numbers.

He's not a fan of Kadri Burn. Sometimes you just have to recognize where a poster is coming from and just let it go. He likes Little, and there's nothing wrong with that. Move on.
- mykokes

I like him to.... just don;'t see improvement there.

i guess you could say that if little hadn't already scored 30 goals and is a proven point producer as well as playing defensive.

if he gets say 60 pts - 70 pts and plays a better 2 way game, that's much more of a benefit to a horrendous defensive team than a kadri who gets 60-80 pts.

Nope but I'd imagine I would be equally disappointed with him as I was with Legwand.

it's just a debate, that's what these boards are for. I see a need for 2 way play, you see a need for offense. It really just helps pass the time.

it's called 2 way play. Being on the PK just shows you are responsible. But i digress, kadri 4 life. he's way better offensively than the guy i suggested too
- clark_griswold

Kadri spent more time on the PK than Little did during their first years.... by this logic 23 year old Kadri will be better 2way than Little in 3 years.

Steen's with blues, maybe better than Lee, but come on. hardly big numbers.

i agree. My point isn't so much kadri sucks i have given him praise. It's more so when people are freaking out at the mention of moving him.

anyone should be moveable on a team that has made the playoffs once in 10 years

That's pretty much a 50-55 point avg from your 2nd line shutdown centre. Cups are won with that type of player in that role. I don't see how you can critique those numbers.

Considering he's really only been on the team for 2 full seasons...I don't fault him for the other 8 seasons.

as he should, look at detroit, what do they do with their players, they have made the playoffs what...23 years in a row now.

god forbid we tried to follow suit.

draft, build, teach, improve.

And there is ZERO chance of Kadri improving at 23??? Little did, but KAdri wont??

I guess this is what you are missing. We have a guy that is skilled and putting up better numbers at the same age, lets let him see if he can continue to get better instead of trading for the guy you want him to be that is 3 years older.

I see no improvement in the team with that trade and it could very well come back to bite us.
