just like we were swept last year, right?

And you know what? Even if you are swept, that's 4 more games of seeing what it takes to be the team that does the sweeping first hand.

But if you think there's no experience to be gained from a sweep, why weaken the team? Why not keep the guys you have, so that the guys who will be on the team long-term have better chance at getting more experience?

Why trade away the UFAs and bring up prospects if they're not going to get any valuable experience anyways?

Seriously, none of what you're arguing makes sense.

Actually.

After the Olympics when everyone was saying they were a lock for the playoffs, I did say there was still plenty of time for the leafs to collaspe and completely F up.

Just saying

Oh, thank goodness - I was worried that the working class hero criticism of the Leafs wouldn't show up here.

Yes, it's the evil owners. Why, they care more about money than winning the Stanley Cup!

MLSEL develops real estate! That obviously has a negative effect on the on-ice product!

If this team really wanted to win the Stanley Cup, they would immediately drop the ticket prices by 75%, so that real hockey fans could attend games, and give out free beer!

If I had a pet unicorn, I'd name her Rainbow. She would have the prettiest mane...

Actually they were in third already.

But the goalie did get injured soon afterwards.
But leafs didnt garner a single point in 8 games. Injury or not....thats bad.

RC coached the team to the playoffs for the first time in 8 years.
The team played well defensively
The team at the time was hard to play against.
Outside of a few stupid things he did (allowing Dion in a shoot out and the treatment of Grabo), there was no reason to remove RC. Even though Im not a fan of his.

Althought I did say the leafs played above themselves last year and that they wouldnt have been able to play as well as they did over 82 games. Again, people scoffed at this.

- Fakepartofme

It's the great unanswered question of 2013-14: how could this clusterfrank of a team be coached by Randy Carlyle?

Was it the wrong personnel for him? Or was the "style of play" actually by design?

I need that question answered before we start thinking about next year.

And my guess on Dion in the shootout - from what I hear, the coaches like to go with who's been putting the biscuit in the basket during practices.

I don't think they were... I remember them being in a wild card spot, and me arguing that they were closer to home ice advantage than to being out of the playoffs... and then they rose to 3rd in the east.

It's not just the Leafs, though. It's a plague that runs through Canada.

It just strikes me as odd that we haven't had the Stanley Cup since 1993.

And what, 4 finalists in that entire time?

Vancouver had some pretty good success and reliability over the past few years, but for the past 20 years, it's been bad more than good.

Edmonton: one lucky run.

Calgary: one lucky run.

Toronto: a couple of years of respectability, but mostly poop-show.

Ottawa: could never raise their game past a certain level.

Montreal: never very bad, but never very good.

WTF?

- Atomic Wedgie

I was going to say the lack of top pick of a franchise player(s) but Edmonton (maybe because they missed out in that generational player) has had them. When you really look at it, none of the Canadian teams have had that "Generational" type player to build on or have gotten that late gem in the draft.

Scouting, luck ?

The starting goalie got injured, and Reimer was too busy practicing his golf swing to stop a beachball.

Well you can't have a pet Unicorn because Moses didn't allow them on his boat. I think it's his fault for the Leafs.

And we all know it's the media. (frank) them. They spoil everything.

Someone post that video of the scientist who talks to his rice.
One he says he loves it, stays white. The one he says he hates turns brown, rots and is destroyed.
