Like he always (frank)ing does. I was also on the "trade UFA's" train. Raymond and Kulemin could have fetched something
- TheThrill

Yea, like when he traded for Bernier, Bolland, signed Clarkson, signed Raymond, traded for Holland, and traded Liles for Gleason...

just sitting on his hands doing nothing.

Kulemin is a pending UFA, no value in a trade, I know a lot of people hated on the suggestion I made about trading the pending UFA's, now it looked like a good idea, lol.
- LeafMan

Because trading them for 5th and 6th rounders would have been a great sign to the players.

That would be a good start.
Then.....assign a new captain, bring in some players with heart, get a new coach if need be and leave the pond hockey for after hours.

Then the leafs might be going somewhere.

- Fakepartofme

No it wouldn't. If a team is willing to trade a player, he obviously sucks.

imagine, trading off players at the deadline, only to have this collapse...

I'm sure they would have been singing Nonis's praise.

Nonis, Loisell and Poulin scoff at analytics
it might take them years to come around if they ever did.

there are new ways to evaluate players we need someone who is willing to take a look at them and use them with the good ol reliable eye test

- senstroll

Actually, they don't. They have a budget for it.

They just don't believe the current ones are complete...

hell yeah! Those moves really took this team to the next level! Hell, they went from a 1st round playoff team to.... oh wait

Nonis should have predicted Bernier's injury.

Shame on him for not selling off pieces of a 3rd place team at the deadline.

- Feeling Glucky?

I said it because they could not afford to resign them, get some assets for them, this team was in no position to win a Stanley Cup, we all saw the dysfunction defensively, no crystal ball but it would have had minimal negative impact going forward with some Marlies who deserved a shot, maybe even have a more positive effect.

To be honest, I'd say that clarkson is his only mistake. I'd rather a gm that doesn't show his hand and shows patience, than trade for a stempniak, or toskala and so on.

All this is showing me is that nonis has more patience than most of us here. To assume that he's doing nothing because of a lack of trades is just flat out wrong...

the criticism isn't that his moves aren't good, the criticism is that he doesn't do anything.

That's false.

If they keep Randy BoBandy, then expect huge line up changes.

If he goes, expect a lot of the same, with some familiar names on the Marlies.

i agree not much value, and i also agreed with you before about trading guys at the deadline.

nonis sat on his hands unfortunetly.

- big_dion

Ya you're right, Nonis sat around doing nothing.

Definitely didnt bring in a number 1 goalie to replace the back up we had.
Defiinitely didnt score probably one of the best bang for the buck FA's 46 pts for 1 million
Definitely didnt bring in a young decent center
Definitely didnt bring Bolland, who had the team rolling before his injury.

Ya he's sat on his hands

Always 20/20 after the fact eh?

Eh all he was saying was "I should have scored more goals". Captains take the team on their back, not just their own efforts on ice.

kessel should have said " I've been being a little btich cause I haven't been scoring any goals, (frank) everyone, (frank) bozak we're over. I should have been better. Wait.. What? The Leafs? Oh, yeah.. we need to skate more." * Jake hears this, screams his own name and spins on the floor in a circle.

Meh, the analytics may be an extra little tool to help evaluate a player but it isnt the end all be all. I believe Ive heard Nonis say the same thing so Im pretty sure they do use them. Ive never heard Nonis "scoff" at them.
- Fakepartofme

they dont

they use a made us system of their own..which confirms the leafs were doing good.

Yeah, I've had no issues with what Nonis tried to do........except the Clarkson move. But even that one, I understand why.

Vanek and Molson got nothing, what makes you think they would get anything for those 2 ??

And after 48 games this year we were sitting pretty also.

Sadly last year can't be used as a comparable at all; fewer games, less travel, no games vs the west.

What this season tells me is that our team is either exhausted or out of shape. That's on Randy.

Even the way he handled the Franson and Kadri negotiations was stellar.

He's doing a bang up job IMO.

The entire Buffalo/NYI cluster(frank) with those two was a joke anyway.

Snow couldn't win a trade to save his life. Murray got what he could.

ANYTHING is better than the NOTHING that they will have now when those guys walk away.

felt like we were trying to eat soup with a fork all season.

thats randy's system...he could have changed it up, so at least we were using a spork...yes, i said it, a spork.

Sadly big D I don't think there was a nice that made sense given our cap situation. I think that he tried, but is a cautious guy and didn't want to call somebody's raise...
