I think they need two...I'll double check and get back to you

Yeah, they need 2 points. That means that NJ, Washignton and Toronto can't catch them, even if they win out.

- Jsaquella

Gotcha. Florida is still playing hard. They haven't thrown the towel in. They just came from behind to beat Dallas who needed the game badly over the weekend. I expect a tough game.

I was almost right

Yeah, they need 2 points. That means that NJ and Toronto can't catch them, even if they win out, and the best the Caps can do is tie them at 91, with the Flyers owning the ROW tiebreaker

Also, Flyers can clinch if they get 1 point and both the Caps and Leafs lose in regulation.

Flyers clinch if they win?

Absolutely awesome. After the tough start to the season, good to see. Giroux has really lead his team this year, such a joy to have him in the fold.

If they do happen to win, I'd like to see them not give anyone a rest before the playoffs. Keep the team in a groove, establish a streak of solid play.

Just in regards to the Kane talk.

I would rather they keep bSchenn, or use him to bring in help for the back end.

Wouldn't happen, but buying out or trading LeCavalier and using said money to target Vrbata would be my choice. Just dislike the idea of keeping Wheels, and shipping off bSchenn.

Trading Lecavalier, is a possibility. But buying him out would not be a very smart move.

The dumbest part was the timing of the hit. They were up 4-0 in the third. There is no need to try and lay someone out. He needs to better understand time and place.
- PhillySportsGuy

imagine if they would have pumped in a couple goals there and get a big push. anything can happen and all of it was bad. don't dislike rinaldo but are we ever going to shed the rep from 1975 if our guys keep that poope up? nice 1-0 loss by new jersey tonight!!

Full on Playoff picture for the Flyers: With 89 points and 4 games left, they can max out at 97 points.

Pittsburgh is uncatchable, even if the Flyers win out.

The Flyers are 3 points behind NYR, with a game in hand.
The Flyers are 2 up on Columbus, both teams have 4 remaining games.

In terms of Wild Card spots, the Flyers are 1 point up on the Wings, both have 4 games left.

The remaining teams who can catch the Flyers as of right now are:

NJ who can max out at 90 points (84 points, 3 games left)
Toronto max out at 90 (84 points, 3 games left)
Washington Max out at 91 (83 points 4 games left)

A Flyers win versus the Panthers gives them 91 points, which means NJ and Toronto can't catch them. Washington can get to 91 points, but has only 25 ROW compared to the Flyers 37. That's the primary tie-breaker, which means that Washington would seed below the Flyers in any scenario, thus clinching a playoff spot for the Flyers.

If the Flyers get a single point, they can still clinch with Washington and Toronto regulation losses on Tuesday & a Devils loss on Thursday.

I get exposure by living here but have maybe seen about 3 whole games this year?

I've gone to 2 games live, both of which the Flyers lost.

Writing is on the wall for Kane.

93 was the lock number the other day and i thought 91 gets them in.......need a win to seal it up and maybe get to rest some guys a little for the last 3

I wasn't concerned about losing the game. I was just disappointed in Rinaldo. He wants to be so much more than just an energy player, but he still has huge mental lapses. There is no reason to even try and deliver a hit like that. It just showed that he still hasn't learned when to tone things down. How can they trust him if he's never going to learn?

Yeah, 93 was the lock, but wins by Philly and losses by others have shifted it. A win would be great, just to lock in a spot and then they can play for seeding.

Jsq, I believe the Flyers are still only two points behind the Rangers. I really don't care if they start on the road as long as they are not in one of the wildcard spots. I wouldn't mind them starting in MSG even with all of their recent difficulties.

The ideal situation would be either to drop below Columbus and play Pittsburgh, or jump over the Rangers and take home ice advantage for the series. I think that'll be the major X-factor for a Rangers-Flyers series.

Rangers will own the tiebreaker. The Flyers need to make up 3 points in order to get the #2 seed in the Metro.
