Still can't believe we lost Denis Tolpeko.

We could have been so strong down the middle with Richards, Umberger and Handzus.

He could go on to do absolutely nothing (like Potulny, Matsumoto, Ross, etc), but it'll still be sad that they didn't have more confidence in his ability after investing all that dev time in him.

That's how I see it, but even more so with Gus...I don't even understand what Gus could've done to get 15 straight games in a Flyers uniform, no benching after one tough outing.

Some guys...coaches just make up their minds.

Jeff Carter proved he'll never be a good winger based on his 7 playoff games and 1 season at LW on this team.

I predict Patrick Maroon is the next Jonathan Matsumoto.

Yeah, don't see a GM/Coach tandem of Homer/Chief being willing to stray too far away from the Flyers archetype when deciding who to call up and keep in the lineup.

Hopefully it's not too late for Gus and Akeson to get a second shot elsewhere at their ages.... or a real first shot here.

I remember being shocked that Denis Tokpeko was Russian.

I hope Gus gets a shot somewhere...I truly believe there are worse defense men playing in the NHL right now than him. Not 1OO guys. Maybe 8-10 guys he could challenge for a spot.

He's an RFA. They aren't going to just let him walk. They will either trade him or just keep him.

He could sign overseas pretty easily... make more money and get a lot more ice time.

Thats true. If he leaves for a few years then comes back, is he still property of the Flyers?

Who said? They could easily not qualify him and make him an UFA if they don't think he's worth a contract slot. I doubt they get much of anything in a trade.

I can't see them just letting him become a UFA. Its not like he's going to cost a ton. He's one of the better 7th dmen in the league. They won't be replacing him with a better, less expensive option.

I can see them trading him for a similar player. A guy who has fallen out of favor, but may be a better fit somewhere else.

I could see them doing one of those "give him a chance to play elsewhere" kind of trades, or lose him on waivers at some point... that seems to be the historical pattern for our tweeners if they stay in NA.

I don't know if they're at that point with Gus yet. Guys they let go on waivers have usually run their course.

It's not doing him or the team any good for him to sit in the stands most of the season. Especially at that age. This season must be killing him.

Ha! I don't know what the hell I did there -- it looks weird as hell, doesn't it? Did I type the letter instead of the number, by mistake?

If the Flyers aren't gonna use him, they may as well stunt his development so no one else can, either.

Hell, I feel sorry for the guy -- yeah, he's a 6/7, but I don't know that he ever really got a shot at being the No. 6. His leash was so short, it almost wasn't worth having him on the roster.
