preach, brother -- I go back and read my stuff, wish I worded things differently some times

I'm going to go out on a limb and say some people around here...give no Fuchs when it comes to that

He also skates really well and seems to always be in on the forcheck.....This kid does a lot of the little things that really make him effective.

Definitely... I like him on that line, I just don't think it's a big deal who's listed as a center in the pre-game lineup. Raffl will take the draw, then Schenn will slip into the middle/right-side where he seems to be the most comfortable.

Vinny Lecavalier Stats
Year Goals/Game
2006-2007 0.634146341
2007-2008 0.49382716
2008-2009 0.376623377
2009-2010 0.292682927
2010-2011 0.384615385
2011-2012 0.34375
2012-2013 0.256410256

Even if we throw out his HUGE dip in the 2009/2010 season, he's had a steady decline each year since 2006. I don't think he'll even return to his glory days. 20 goals, yes, 30+, no.

I agree. Ive never loved him as a player. I always thought St. Louis was really the straw stirring the drink for that team.

Needs more Tye McGinn, because Jason Akeson is small and his +\- stinks(even if it is better than McGinn's)

BSchenn, if he is going to be a success as a two way center, he has to be the defensively responsible guy.

I think he could be, but in that last Boston game he (along with a lot of their forwards really) were pressing offensively and cheating. It killed them.

- Marc D

I agree. Ive been underwhelmed with his defense lately. I don't like when his lack of scoring affects his whole game. It just prolongs the slump when he gets out of his game.

We could always play Hal Gill on the 4th lime wing and move everyone up a line. Just put him at the red line, having stand still, and just wave his stick back and forth of the ice. He'll probably break up a pass or two, and possibly direct another puck or two to one of our players.

You know, it was funny yesterday, reading Hextall's and Murray's quotes. I get that they want Akeson to be more responsible, and I've only seen a couple of Phantoms games this year, so I don't have enough time in with them to get a feel for if his skating has improved some, if he competes in his own zone day after day.

But one thing you can see, in even a few games: The guy has NHL hockey sense, offensively. He really does. He has enough skill, I think, to put up points.

I just don't think it will be in Philadelphia. It's clear, at least to me, they just aren't ever going to give him even McGinn's number of games to see what he does.

Just like Gus...they're just not gonna do it. It's almost not worth talking about, anymore. He's not going to play for the Flyers.

I get the feeling it's something besides his play. Maybe they don't think he works hard enough or hasn't made enough of an effort to improve in his weakest areas.

I don't know. I guess i'm reaching a bit.

I just don't think he has a spot. They have enough guys who are top-6 offensive players who are as good as or better all-around players. His best fit is probably as a top-6 players (as opposed to a checker/energy player) so there just isn't a spot for him.

I think people were wondering why they played McGinn on the 2nd line instead of Akeson.

I was as well. Sorry if I misread that. Yes, if there was a top-6 opening, I wouldn't be opposed to giving him a look, over McGinn.

He may well need to work harder on his overall game. Stats aren't as readily available for the AHL, outside of the basics, so who knows?

I'd just like to see him get as much of a look as McGinn...both seem to be bubble guys and B level prospects, so not expecting to see either become a regular

Yep. I think some offensively-starved team could possibly use him, or at least give him a legit shot.

He could go on to do absolutely nothing (like Potulny, Matsumoto, Ross, etc), but it'll still be sad that they didn't have more confidence in his ability after investing all that dev time in him.

I don't see him as a guy we'll regret letting go (except the dumb people who think every player lost is the greatest player ever), but I would have liked to see him get a look at least.

Still can't believe we lost Denis Tolpeko. He was the next Patrick Thoresen.
